Ah ha! We have Marinell 8) . I've just finished work and only just seen this welcome news, so without further ado, I'll get downloading.

Thanks Tom

Now I can reproduce those 'unofficial' Norfolk flypasts that Maurice Hammond delights us with so often throughout the summer months, such as the Hunstanton seafront 'one bird' airshow, and the preserved steam railway 1940s weekend at Sheringham (seen below).

Cheers again Tom :P

In case any additional reference material would be useful for Janie, I popped over to Hardwick earlier, and took a couple of snaps.

Yeah, you'd like Hardwick Lewis, you really would! Our visit yesterday was 'unofficial' as it wasn't actually an 'open day' as such. The next open day will be on Sunday 20th July, and that will immediately follow the Saturday night's annual 1940s dance, which you'd also really enjoy! We camp on the airfield overnight which gets the imagination running overtime, given that some of the remaining buildings are reputedly haunted and about 10 metres from the tents! Still, there is always the bar to ease the tension

This is the old decontamination building for example, and there are loads more to see!

Even that blister hangar in the shot with Janie was salvaged from Biggin Hill, and is an actual Battle of Britain relic!

If you can't make July, I'll give you a shout when there is another and hopefully we can hook up again. Looks like you had an interesting trip to the Norwich Aviation Museum!

Afraid I am away for that Mike, will have to meet up after my trip. Though I also miss mid norfolk railway 40's even t I do believe the north norfolk one is in September and might try and get to that one.

thanks,

Yep, if you can get to Sheringham in September, that'll be great! I'll keep you posted, but we'll be there from Friday to Sunday anyway. All the stops along the line will be 1940s themed, but it gets quite busy on the platforms around midday.

This is what I love about Hardwick. It just evokes that contrast of tranquillity and thunder that would have been such a feature of bases like Bodney, home of the 'Blue nosed Bastards'. Skylarks singing and the meadow grass blowing in a gentle English summers breeze, dramatically silenced by the roar of homecoming Merlins.
