The beacon light of the civil P-51D rotates very fast

Arguably the finest fighter aircraft of World War II.

The beacon light of the civil P-51D rotates very fast

Post by Tim-HH »

Hi,

since one of the last update the beacon light of the civil P-51D rotates with round about 5 revolutions per second. It actually looks like a fire truck emergency light. Has anybody else this problem? :)

And I have to say that the strobe lights are quite ugly...a big, sometimes small, undefined, aperiodic white flash at the tail of the plane. Is that intended?

Curious, what are your framerates?

Hi,Tim-HH
Was experimenting with the framerate slider couple days a go. Noticed that the beacon, and strobe light are a lot faster (too fast,I think) the more you turn up the fps. I let you know if I find out anything more on this issue.

Cheers,
Thomas

Thanks Scott and Thomas! It was indeed caused by a too high framerate :)

And I replaced the strobe light effect with the one from the Cherokee which I think looks much better.

OK, this was just a guess on my part, but in general, you should always be limiting your framerates in a simulator to something below what it would run if not limited. This gives "room" for other important things to calculate.

I limit my rig at 30fps.

Was the plane designed for that limit ? Becouse there are different opinions on the matter, for example Mr. Lewis said that the planes were tailored to maximum 36 fps.

I think I may have been mis-understood here. Our aircraft will work so long as the FPS is above say 18 like Scott mentioned in the past. The 36 mentioned in the past was soley for the animations and this applies to all MSFS aircraft, depending on how the animations are timed. So long as you are above 18 (Ideally above 20) you should be all good.

thanks,
Lewis
