Any F-6D repaints?

Arguably the finest fighter aircraft of World War II.

Any F-6D repaints?

Post by Alan_A »

Was just wondering if anyone has repainted the P-51 as an F-6D photo recon aircraft. My searches haven't turned up any - there's a 2012 thread on this forum about a work-in-progress Lil Margaret, but if it was finished and posted somewhere, I haven't been able to locate it. I realize that F-6D repaints would have to involve some poetic license since the model doesn't seem to allow the placement of all the camera ports. Still, recon aircraft are useful - it's plausible to fly them alone, not in formation, so they work well in the FSX environment. I've gotten a lot of use out of the Spitfire recon paints available. Anyone know of any Mustang equivalents?

I cant be 100% certain but I am under the impression Jankees may have done one years back. If he did it will be on Ozx site for download.

cheers,

Thanks, Lewis. I'm not finding it among his P-51 repaints but I might have missed it while scanning through his many pages of Mustangs... Unfortunately the OZx search function never seems to want to cooperate with me. Maybe Jankees or someone else can point the way to it.

I did suddenly recall after posting that Tom Weiss had done a French F-6D of Group 2 33 (the unit that Saint-Exupery flew with, though after his time). So that's something.

Still open to others, but if they don't exist, well, more reason to polish my French... 8)

Not sure if this is relevant, but I thought someone was working on one at one time.

Not sure if this was for the WoP3 model, or if it was ever released.

Thanks, Warhorse. That's the Lil Margaret thread. But I can't tell if the repaint ever got finished and posted - the thread breaks off in 2012 and my library searchers (OZx, Simviation, Sim Outhouse, Flightsim.com) don't turn up anything. Anyone know if this one got done?

Ah, good thought. I'll try sending a PM.

EDIT: And I did. Not sure if he'll see it - it looks like he hasn't been on the forums in a couple of years. But you never know. If he turns up and he's willing, I'll try to point him to this thread. Thanks again for the suggestion!
