Gday fellas
Im getting a kick out of trying to beat my personal best straight and level sustained speed
This involves real time weather via ASN, but no cheating, Im always at the same airports for takeoff and landing with real time weather
So far my best blend of the luck of the weather, and altitude, and speed is:
GPS ground speed of 365 knots which is 420 MPH @ 67.7" of manifold pressure doing 3000 turns per minute, thats high blower at 22000 feet AGL
Any tips on more speed?

Re: How Fast Can She Go?
Take her up a bit higher. Near 30000ft. Find a good tail wind.
Wait for next winter, get up into the jet stream in the north. I have found 100+ knot winds giving me those speeds (400+) at a cruise power setting, having drop tanks installed.

Re: How Fast Can She Go?
Hmm Robert Im not really doing much better at FL300
The problem is the manifold pressure from high blower suffers as you go from say FL200 to FL300
I realise the drag is less, but I dont see tangible gains
I appreciate that your theory may involve having tail winds in the jet stream, but thats the luck of the weather and I run real time ASN HIFI weather
Hmm, its fun to ponder this and experiment

Re: How Fast Can She Go?
Having a good tail wind is the key.

How heavy are you? Try less weight
