Oil Grades

Post by Moggster »

I was looking for the operating temperature ranges for the 3 types of oil the Mustang uses, when I stumbled across the "WWII U. S. Army Air Forces Pilot's Information File" on Google.

For the 1120 grade oil (Summer) the air temperature at ground should be 4°C (40°F) or above.
For the 1100 grade oil (Normal) the air temperature at ground should be between -7°C to +27°C (20°F to 80°F).
For the 1080 grade oil (Winter) the air temperature at ground should be 10°C (50°F) and below.

Hope this helps.
