G-SUSY query

Post by T6flyer »

Hello,

I'm a bit slow on the uptake but seeing that A2A currently has a sale this Xmas, am quite tempted to purchase the Mustang.

Does anyone know if a scheme is available for 44-72773 which was G-SUSY when owned by Charles Church and then Paul Morgan, before being sold to Germany?

Reason I ask is that I used to fly with Paul in the 1990s and would love to be able to replicate some of those flights in that aeroplane.

Many thanks,

Martin

Have you searched the forums for this repaint? I'm not aware of this particular repaint being out there. But I don't know all of them

If it hasn't been done already maybe one of the talented repainters here would give it a shot though. It's a good looking paint.

Just now, I had a little look through the forums and yes there is a repaint but as it is today being in an overall silver finish. Still the same Mustang, so can see it possibly being added to the collection in the not too distant future. Whenever I flew in it, was always in the Memphis Belle colours.

First time was in June 1992. Did a lot of research work for Paul on his Chipmunk and T-6G and earlier in the year we were arranging a date for me to fly in the latter. He asked me 'Did I know what he had bought next?' and I had heard on the grapevine that it was the Mustang. I was asked 'How about that?, thinking that he wanted me to do the paperwork for the Mustang, but no it was a very kind offer of a ride. Did both the T-6G and the Mustang on the same day. He truly was a lovely chap and will always be remembered for his generosity.

Cheers,

Martin

Wow that's really cool. I would love to go for a ride in a Mustang. The P-51 is one of my all time favorite aircraft.

Thanks for sharing that story.

Hey Martin,

Matt Smith did repaints of four of the five Mustangs that were painted for and used in the film "Memphis Belle", and 'Suzy' is one of them included. You can find them here: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/fil ... lle-movie/

It is at least the closest I have seen a repaint of that particular aircraft to the time period you were around it.
