After 16_16_Update today mustang veering to the left

Post by womil »

Hello,

I like to fly my mustangs very often and enjoyed the slight and very nice improvements by the last updates. Today after a (late) 04_16_16 update I was very surprised when the mustang during the takeoff roll is massively driven to the left while no correction (neither by rudder nor by aileron) was possible. It is like the right rudder suddenly is switched off. I would describe myself as a relatively experienced mustang (sim)pilot with a lot of succesful starts and landings. But I have no chance to keep the bird on the runway now.
As far as I have read there is no agreement in the forum what the problem may be?!

Until now I didn't do any reinstalls of the mustang.

Best regards,
Wolfgang

Hi Trev,
You are right. That was the first what I thought also. But the controls are free. Both the civilian and the Military mustang behave in the same way. As soon as the plane is getting speed I am not able any more to correct the drift to the left.
I use FSX on a Win 7 Pro Computer and all my A2A planes are Accusim Aircraft.

Hi Wolfgang,

Try to run the latest updater. There is a 5-1-16 update available here.

I personally don't have that problem on my installation but maybe the update will help. It'll fix other bugs that sneaked in with the 4-16-16 update for sure

Happy flying

Hello Piper_EEWL,

thanks for the hint on the new update. I hoped it will help and tested it yesterday. But no change in the behaviour of the mustangs. Shortly after beginning the takeoff roll I find myself in the grass on the left. It is sad but at the moment my mustangs are grounded.
There are no problems with the Spitfire, Texan, Comanche, P40 and Piper Cub.
Maybe a deinstall/reinstall of the P51 will help!?

Regards,
Wolfgang

Hello, Lewis,

thank you for your support. The strange thing is, when I apply only max. 40" MP (softly) during the takeoff roll, I have no controls locked, and suddenly when the speed rises the plane turns to the left with no reaction to right rudder. Surprisingly, taxiing on the runway before works perfectly and smooth to the left and to the right. I am able to unlock the tailwheel by pressing the stick forward and do a complete turn. The plane reacts perfect and smoothly.
I am searching and searching whether I've put a wrong setting somewhere but could find nothing until now.

Thanks for coming in here, Lewis! I very much appreciate your support. And, by the way, the support given by A2A is without example in my opinion.

Regards,
Wolfgang

This may sound too basic but have you checked and made sure your rudder is functioning. I have on occasion lost my rudder pedal connection and of course I have no rudder control and into the boonies I go. :D A simple check is to just look at your rudder animation in the outside view. If it is functioning try your take off roll from this view and see what is going on.

If you go the reinstall route let us know so we can double double check you are removing all p-51 files including the update files for a clean re-install and update.

thanks,

Further to what Vince (DVM) suggested, make sure windows isn't powering diwn your USB ports that host your rudder. I had the EXACT same issue as you, and that may have been the problem.

For me, I switched off power saving option for the USB port, re-configured my pedals and also accomplished a complete un-install and re-install of the P-51 w/Accusim.

Always be sure to install the latest updates as they are released

Here' a link to my prior post describing what I experienced:

Hi to you all,

thanks for so much help. I have good news. It seems that I could figure out what happened. (hopefully) Obviously I messed up the old aircraft.cfg file with the new one after the update. I thought to use the updated aircraft.cfg file but it was still the not updated one.
The first test flights with the civilian and with the military mustang were successful. My mustangs are in the air again!! Takeoff and landing behavior of the planes are completely normal.

I will do more testing.
Thank you for so much support. I have been following the forum discussions for a long time. It's a really outstanding community.
Regards from Bayreuth,
Wolfgang
