Hello the Aces
ILS approach with civilian P51D. Century III
After hearing the morse code:
- I activate the APPR in the GPS (VTF Vector To Final)
- I select LOC NORM sur le century III
As for the LOC it is well hung.
- I switch to NAV mode (instead of GPS) but fail to hang the GlideSlop. Is this normal?
My altitude seems correct: between 3500ft and 2000ft.
Question: Does the century III handle the vertical trajectory?
Thank you for your answers.
See you soon.

Re: approch ILS / century III
Hello Billy,
I'm not too familiar with the Century III in the P-51 but it certainly does have a glideslope capture function. However, to use it successfully you need to have selected LOC NORM (HDG) and ALT modes at least 20 seconds before capture. You must also be beneath the glideslope during this 20 second period.
More info on p.14 in the manual.
Cheers,
Nick

Thanks NICK M;
Indeed, it is about being at the right approach altitude and hanging the glide from below. But it is true that I do not have all the maps of all the tracks of all the airports.
See you soon.
