Hey guy! first off, what a great plane! love it!

For some reason though, I cant alter my aircraft.cfg to add repaints. is there a way to unlock it or is the problem on my computer?

Open with 'Notepad' and when you choose 'save', be sure it saves as aircraft.CFG NOT .txt which is the default.

You may need to edit your permissions so you have access to save it... I'm not at a computer right now and can't recall the exact process, but someone here can help I'm sure.
