Hi Lewis

This is good news! I just wanted to report that deactivating most addons (including EZDOK) had no effect on my CTD problem. So, I look forward to using my beloved P51D again soon (and the Spitfire!). All your aircraft are simply outstanding! Thanks a lot for your wonderful products and your always great support!

Cheers
Felix

Hi Lewis

After the first few circuits with the P51D it is looking good! Will report back once I have flown the P51D and the Spitfire a bit more. And yes, the touch down feels (and sounds) different now. Great!

Thanks again!

Hi Lewis

Unfortunately, I must come back to this issue. The problem seems to be "semi-solved" only. I can often do a few successive circuits with landings, but now and then FSX still stops with a CTD when flying the P51D. The CTDs mostly occur on touch-down as before, but significantly less often since the latest Accusim update. I'm a quite stumped now.

Hello

Does anybody have an idea what could (still) cause occasional CDTs with the P51D?

Hey Felix, is the crash exactly as before?

Can you check your event viewer again to confirm its the same files crashing please.

thanks,
Lewis

Hi Lewis

The situation has become worse with the civil version of the P51D, but the Mil P51D works quite stable again (like the Spitfire). The civil version usually causes a CTD a few seconds after loading the aircraft. No takeoff is possible any longer. The event log is actually not the same as before the latest Accusim update. The faulting module is shown as panels.dll:

Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14
Faulting module name: panels.dll, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb59
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000eb68
Faulting process id: 0x1984
Faulting application start time: 0x01d1981704914ca2
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\panels.dll
Report Id: 6af0a3ba-040b-11e6-9be1-001fd09c6543

I also uninstalled both the mil and the civil version as well as Accusim and reinstalled everything in the correct order. But the result is still the same. No chance to fly the civil P51D any more. Could it something have to do with the GPS?

Given the error yes it does seem like your FSX is having some issues. Have you tried making sure the GPS is off, and what happens when flying other aircraft equipped with the default gps?

Also a new updater has been released that updates the warbirds among other things including somenew GPS options for the P-51 Civ;

Hi Lewis

The problem has become even stranger in the meantime. After a full reinstall I observed that the panel.cfg contained entries for RXP GNS. I remember that I had tried to use my RXP530 with this aircraft in the past but had given up later. I have no idea why these entries reappeared. Consequently, I removed all RXP entries and windows from panel.cfg. As result I could normally load the civil P51D again and even fly a few circuits. But after latest three circuits it abruptly ended by CTD or even Blue Screen.... Somehow there might still be traces of that RXP trial somewhere...

A couple of hours later....
In the meantime I ran the Accusim updater again and noticed that the P51D (both versions) got an update, which mentioned 3rd party GPS. And in the A2A folder I discovered the new aircraft configurator! Thanks a lot for this update! Once loaded I chose the GTN650 and took off happily. Unfortunately, it soon ended with a Blue Screen again. I had no time to see what it showed ...

Yes, other aircraft with the default GPS run well. The problem exclusively occurs with the P51D civ.

So, I'm still left without the amazing P51D civilian... Do you have a clue where to search further? Any help is highly appreciated.

Hello,

a BSOD is pretty serious and doubtful our software is at fault but it would point to a system issue that our software might be highlighting, be it old drivers or some such. Let us know what the BSOD is saying.

thanks,

Hi Lewis

Thanks for your ongoing support. I think I have to give up on this aircraft, as I don't have the slightest idea what causes this problem. My FSX installation works better than ever and there is no problem with any GPS units, be it the standard GPS or the RXP or GTN units. The problem solely occurs with the P51D civ, since I installed the T6. The latter also runs well with the standard GPS or the GTN650; never had any CTD or even BSOD.

Thanks again.

Felix the P-51 Civ comes with its own aircraft config now is there a chance your trying to add the GPS manually rather than using the aircraft config app?

Hi Lewis

My problem seems to be finally solved. While going through all files within the P51D and the P51D civil folders, I noticed that the P51.dll in the panel folder of the P51D is much smaller than that of the cilvil version (493kB versus 2'954kB). This didn't really make sense to me. So, I copied the P51.dll from the mil version to the civil version. And BINGO, no CTD and no BSOD any longer (at least so far) and the panel still looks the same! I did several flights and even loaded the previous flight; everything worked as expected.

What is the difference between these two files?

I just want to add that the price for the above described solution for my CTD/BSOD problem are non-functional displays on the radio panel (COM, NAV, ADF, XPDR). The GTN650 however works fine (inlcuding NAV, COM and XPDR functions).

Lewis, can you possibly have a look at what I did (see last post) and why it works like this?

Cheers
Felix
