Flyby94 wrote:Well guys, I did not figure out the issue but I fixed what ever it was. I re downloaded the P-51/accusim and did not reinstall the update for it. The P-51 is back to the way it was. No issues. I have no idea what caused it but I really appreciate the help guys. Thank you all.
I remember after the update early in 2017 the P51 became much more difficult to takeoff. I think they edited the torque value of the Merlin. The increased torque caused a few crashes until I got the hang of it.
At least you can fly it now.
Roger

That was the issue I think. As I throttled up on takeoff, the more power I used and more airspeed, the aircraft started veering left. I need a little throttle to take off but I can't take off at 10 knots lmao hahah. Back to Normal though.

Good to see you have things sorted. You didn't say if you are now running the latest update which more accurately simulates the aircraft.
Cheers

This is exactly what it was doing to me after the update early 2017. My issue was attempting to force her off the deck at 95-100 knots. Hold her on the ground until you reach 110-120 knots then gently pull back with a slow ascent until your gear is up and you have good acceleration.
Good luck
Roger

Thanks for the advice, but i've flow the P51 in FSX no issues and completed round the world flights in it. So i'd like to think I know how to fly it. My FSX build I can take off no problem in P3Dv4 I have the issue.

OK, so now comes the apology....Pilot error after all. Think I forgot how to fly this thing since moving to P3dV4. It does make you pay attention more than the other aircraft. Thanks to everybody for pointing me in the right direction and showing me the error I was making. Off to have some fun now

Very good sir. Glad you're tearing up the skies again in this wonderful bird. I haven't picked it up just yet for P3Dv4, was kinda hoping for a sale on release
. No matters, I may be whipping out the plastic soon as I cannot wait to get back into "Fire Dancer". I even opened up FSX last night to take a look and a snapshot or two.

You have to be a bit of a soothsayer nowadays with the Mustang, Spitfire too during take-off. The guys at A2A thought it would be great fun to throw loads more P factor and Torque at us. With no real way to 'feel' these aircraft it can be quite problematic at first.
Steve.

Yes, I do agree with that statement. The P3Dv4 seems a lot more twitchy and more care needed. Makes life a lot more interesting. I love this plane it's just so interesting every time I fly it.

I picked it up this weekend and the first flight was nearly a disaster. I had zero rudder control on takeoff. Turned around and tried again with same results. I slewed to 10000 feet and found that rudder is working. I did a couple landings and all seems good now. I believe that the tail wheel lock is much more pronounced now and one has to stick forward to release lock to takeoff. This is not the same as in FSX.
I have many hours in the P51 and this was new to me.
Cheers
Roger

But if the manual states that the stick must be back to lock the tailwheel for takeoff, then is it too twitchy...or just really requires a LOT of really active rudder?
I’m just getting ready to move over to P3Dv4 so (if you are willing) I will be interested to read your impressions as you figure this out, and to hear from others as well.

I don't have manual right now but if memory serves there is 6 degrees of play in tail wheel when locked. This should be more than enough to takeoff straight but I was unable to do so.

My impression this far is that the mustang is indeed requiring more care and attention in P3Dv4. I have a pretty good amount of difficulty in trimming for level flight, seems very nose heavy and a tad bit more difficult to manage on takeoff. My first takeoff attempt had me in the weeds and I had only put in 30 inches of mp. It was like no rudder authority at all. Subsequent attempts were much better and I can keep a relatively straight takeoff roll if I do my part. I dont think I have ever been able to trim for complete hands free, but I do recall a few seconds available before she started wandering. In v4 though, you need to have a handle on things as any minor change to power or prop will make her dance around.
I do love the challenge but she does seem a bit out of sorts in v4.
