P-51 Mustang military problem with parking brake

Post by martinB »

I have a little strange thing with the parking brake of my P-51 military: although the parking brake is definately set, sometimes the plane is rolling forward about 4 or 5 meters when I start the engine, then stops again by the still set parking brake.

Does anybody have an idea how this could be?

Thanks for doing some mind,
kindly, Martin

Thank you Lewis for the quick answer - great support !!!. Well I am using Prepare3D v4 on Windows 10 64bit with 16 GB RAM. Graphics card is GeForce GTX 1070.

I'm not sure but I think I found the problem: may be I have to much throttle on engine starting. Could this be or do you have an other explanation? On the other hand ... when I do my runup check and go to 2000 RPM the mustang does move not even an inch.

By the way, can you give me a tipp how to keep the spark plugs clean?

Kindly, Martin

Hello,

can you let me know how you are loading into the flight and just confirm you do NOT have the Mustang selected as the part of the default flight for the P3D platform?

For plugs fouling make sure you don't run mixture too low and throttle too low on idle.

thanks,

10-12% throttle for startup is where you'll want to be.

For the plugs fouling, you'll want to keep idle around 1,000 if you're sitting for extended periods.

Lewis: I created a scenario with the mustang and defined it as to load as default flight. Is this wrong?
AviationAtWar: Thank you, I will try this.

Short answer is yes.
On the other hand, is everything working?
Kind Regards
Tomas

Hello

yes, having the a complex simulation as the default is not recommended this includes our Accu-sim range of simulations. Default flights are best kept to default platform aircraft for frustration, trouble free simming.

Well, I think the problem with the parking brake is caused because of too much throttle. I tried some engine starting with just a bit of throttle and the plane did not move anymore.

I never had problems with my other planes such as Piper Cherokee or Cessna 172 when set to default plane, but when you think it's best to let P3D its own default plane, then I will load my planes manually to avoid further problems.

Thanks to all,
kindly, Martin

Hello,

good to hear you are all sorted. And yes its good practice to never load it. Some users can load fine as default others have totally flight corrupt and sometimes those that are ok will one day start the sim and and whack its all corrupt and not working correctly. So general advice is to not do it just to save frustration down the road.
