Well I'm having a basinful of this right now! For those of you who aren't familiar with the symptoms...Start engine, check controls, all good. Gently advance the throttle, stick held back. Off we go down the runway 'dancing' on the pedals to keep her straight. Speed building up, stick forward, tailwheel comes off the ground, more throttle more dancing still going straight. Rotate! Lift off and go directly to 'Veers to left' mode and no amount of persuasion will direct her anywhere else.
I have flown this plane in all it's guises since FSX to P3D and P3Dv4.4 and have NEVER experienced this behaviour. I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it, deleted .dat files (incidentally in documents\A2A\FSX\P51 not where you'd expect in P3D)
Still no difference!
There is something amiss and it's not my technique.

Re: Remember this: Mustang veers to the left?
Hey Ron,
I'm sure you have as much time in the P51 as I do. At what speed are you rotating? I experienced this after one of the updates. Where I used to be able to lift off at 100 IAS (or even less) I now have to hold her down until I reach 115-120 IAS, rotate, hold her in a slow climb until I gain more speed and gear is up. Once I finally reach approximately 135+ IAS I can start an aggressive climb.
Cheers
Roger

Another odd thing, every time I load the Mustang I get the 'Simconnect failed......restarting simconnect' message. Relevant?

" 'Simconnect failed......restarting simconnect' message. "
That's the most relevant info. In my experience, after this message, sim connect will never restart properly.
Best is to shutdown the sim and completely reboot the computer, if restarting the sim is not enough.
Also make sure, complex plane is not part of the default flight (that's for both FSX and P3D).
Regards
Jens

Re: Remember this: Mustang veers to the left?
Preparing a dish of humble pie here.
Taking a careful look at the IAS I was tempted to rotate at around 110mph but I held it down to 135mph and we took off! Did a circuit+military break and landed fo a stop ans go. However, on the 'Go' part she would get to 100mph and veered off left despite my best efforts to keep her on the straight and narrow. Back to flight school I guess.
Just saw Jens contribution.
I've been an advocate of loading with default aircraft since I was 7 years old. It begs the question 'Why does simconnect not er, connect?'

Good for the default flight
On the Go part, after your successful landing. Did you reset everything to normal takeoff condition? Trim? Flaps? RPM? I think especially the trim settings can be tricky even in the go-around when you add power.

To tell the truth, I've put it back in the hangar for the time being. There is only so much energy can be expended on it. Thanks for your input though, I appreciate it.

Re: Remember this: Mustang veers to the left?
For good practice if you get a simconnect error in the sim it'd be good to restart the sim if not the PC. PITA indeed, but the nature of the flight loading beast that is FSX and to a lesser degree P3D.
thanks,

So what is the underlying reason for simconnect not to run? And why only the Mustang?

Re: Remember this: Mustang veers to the left?
Normally a flight loading error in FSX/P3D can cause simconnect to fail to load correctly or not at all. Also reaching the limit of the finite reloads, simconnect along with slow loading blurry textures are the first signs its time to restart too.

Re: Remember this: Mustang veers to the left?
I have found that reloading an AccuSim aircraft 'X' number of times will cause the simconnect error
message. 'X' seems to be system dependent. On one system configuration 'X' was = 3.
On my current system 'X' ~ 7 or 8 reloads.
A slow or 'stalled' disc access can cause the error.
In any event the only way to clear this is a complete restart of the sim. Reloading the aircraft
will not do it, in my experience.

Re: Remember this: Mustang veers to the left?
See my cap? It's in my hand. I'm totally embarrassed to say, that I'm a plonker beyond redemption. What I was doing was starting out OK but by the time I was half way down the runway I was at full throttle! No wonder the poor old thing wanted to abandon ship. I have now relearned how to handle a wild horse, firmly but gently....and a sugar lump.
Sorry to bother you all and please forgive my all of my bad thoughts.

Ron: Glad you hung in there and rode that pony. The P-51 takes practice. Sort of like that really cool horse in one of those old cowboy stories, where she always bucks a little at the beginning of the day, but then she settles down and takes care of business. Try landing and taking off at Santa Catalina (KAVX).

You know the rules around here Ron, if in doubt ALWAYS ask. Would rather you ask and get advice/a fix than get frustrated and swear at meRon Attwood wrote:See my cap? It's in my hand.
