I bought the Cub a few days ago, and I think it's the best thing I've ever seen for Flight Simulator. But, I have a couple of problems. First of all, after flying for a while, the sound of the wind blowing through the open door and window will disappear. Also, my engine and airframe hours aren't saved. They're recorded while I'm flying, but when I restart Flight Simulator they've been reset to zero. I tried reinstalling both the Cub and Accu-Sim, but it didn't help. Does anyone know how to fix these problems?

Do you have FSX installed at default location (C:\Program Files\...) and you're using Vista or Windows 7? In some situations, Cub can't save engine hours and other variables when FSX was installed to default location without administrator rights.

BLP,

If you experience the wind sound disappearing, open your CONTROLS (SHIFT-3) and pull your Accu-Sim volume slider left, then right. Let me know if this brings your sound back. We have never experienced a lowering of sound, but one user reported on the forums here this and doing the above fixed it. If this is an issue on some systems, perhaps we can put something in the update that would look for this and fix it.

Scott.

It was me who reported it. I confirm that it bring back the wind sound sometimes, but not every time.

Hope it's okay I use this thread to report another issue: Sometimes the Cub is not stable on take off - It rolls to the left (with calm wind). I think maybe I noticed the left wheel being flatter than the other in exterior view, but I'm not sure. It haven't happened in a while now though.

I have FSX installed to C:\Program Files (x86), and I have Vista 64. I have tried pulling the Accu-Sim volume slider left and right, but it didn't help. But, Zorg12 said it only works sometimes. So, it's possible that I just haven't tried it enough.

I just lost the wind sound again and tried pulling the Accu-Sim volume slider left, then right. It still didn't work. Also, could anyone tell me more about the engine/airframe hours issue?

This will be fixed in a patch.

Does anyone know if the sound issue is going to be patched?

Are you speaking of the sound cutting out on some systems intermittently over time?

I'm speaking of, in my case, how the wind sound disappears after flying for a while.

BPL,

We have not been able to reproduce this. Is this something that you can reproduce reliably on your system?

Scott.

Yes, it is. All I have to do is fly the Cub for a while with the door and windows open. It happens every time. With the door and windows closed, I don't notice any problems, though.

"for a while"

BPL,

I ran the cub for 20 minutes with the window and door opened and the sound is still ok, so can you answer the following:

1. Do you cycle views at any point? If so, does the issue happen if you stay in the cockpit?
2. Approximately how long does it take for the sound to cut off?
3. Is there anything you can do to bring the sound back?

Scott.

Hey everyone. I figured I would chime in on this as this is an issue that I have experienced, and have somewhat of a success in curing. When I first got the Cub I was experiencing issues with the sound cutting out, and if I went to any other menu outside the game (the map, save menu, load flight menu, weather, etc.) immediately upon returning to the game it would just be the ground, and kind of flashing. This was always preceded by though a loss in the accu-sim sounds. Now the thing that I have been playing with, and I haven't had an issue since (knock on wood) is the graphic settings in the game. I went and did the auto gen tree tweak, and I have not had a problem since. I personally attribute this problem to trying to run scenery settings to high, and then you either run out of RAM to load the things you are trying to load. Or it is something with overwhelming the CPU. I am not saying that it isn't the aircraft. Removing a large amount of the autogen tree's though has had a tremendous effect, and I haven't had an issue in 12 flight hours. I just finished a 3.6 hour flight without incident, and I transitioned to the save game screen twice, and messed around with the accu-sim windows. Even ran through and opened the side window/door/actuated the mag switch/turned the radio on and off a few times/and played with the prop. I could not aggrivate it enough to get it to crash again. My system is a Core i7 950 (stock), Asus Pt6 Deluxe V2, 750 watt power supply, Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 1GB, 6GB DDR3 1600, 1 Seagate 7,200RPM 750GB HDD/1 150GB WD 10,000RPM Raptor HDD(FSX only drive). The best thing I can say to replicate it Scott is to crank up your autogen, and then fly around for at least an hour, the first thing you will notice is that the radio stops clicking when you turn it on, and voice dialogue will be disrupted. It is almost like when I used to get OOM on my laptop, but without actually getting the OOM message. Hopefully this will help point you in the right direction. At first I was upset about turning my autogen trees down but now it isn't that big of a deal. At least I can fly the aircraft and actually be able to save it at the other end. I will report back if I have something happen otherwise though.
