I was playing instant action since I got BOB2 and was suprise to see now that I started a campaign that the AI act differently from the Instant action in campaign mode. I have a bug in fact in spc mode. The rear gunner of the JU87, ME110, or other bombers do not shoot at us, the RAF fighters. I tried everthing I could on the BDG file of my 2.11 version and nothing solved the problem. I know its a bug because I can go right on the tail of 36 JU87 and fly there without seeing a single shot beeing tried at me or my squadron. However, when I get close to the leaders at the front, 1 of them is trying a few shot on me, like if he was the only one awake there! I know it's wrong because in Instant action it works great and almost all gunners are shooting so it's clearly a spc bug I'm having

I unistall the game and deleted all the files and reinstalled the original clean 2.06 version I got downloading the game. After restarting my cpu I went into a new campagin and still have the same bug. Now I patched it again to 2.11 to work further on the BDG file but absolutely nothing works. "Do_you_want_Increase firing rate" "Do_you_want_JU87_to_dogfight", "random skill modifier on/off" I tried them all. I tried at Hero, at Ace, and still cannot find the realism of the Instant action missions in my campaign.

Can anyone help before I stop and turn myself to another game? I feel like I'm waisting a good game, It would be incredible if only the rear gunners could shoot.... :evil:

Hmm, that is a bit strange. The same code applies to both the Campaign and Instant Action. The big difference is the skill level and in the campaign the skills are generally lower than in instant action.

You can see the skill levels by using the Move code labels so you will have the data on screen.

Show_MoveCodes=ON # For testing AI maneuvers and getting debug and performance data

Remember all the other label must be off as only one label option can be "ON".

BDG_Values.UseShortLabels = OFF
BDG_Values.Show_MoveCodes = OFF

It's strange I have none of the lines you reffer to in my BDG file except for Show_MoveCodes=ON. When I patched my clean 2.06 installation to 2.11, the first time I exited the game I got the following lines in my BDG_out :

Don´t know this variable in bdg.txt: 'Initial_Max_Number_AI_Targeting_Player'.
Don´t know this variable in bdg.txt: 'AI_Targets_Player_After_HitOrMiss'.
Don´t know this variable in bdg.txt: 'Novice_Stronger_Bullets'.
Don´t know this variable in bdg.txt: 'Collision_Avoidance'.
Don´t know this variable in bdg.txt: 'REDUCE_SURFACE_DEFLECTION'.

They are nowhere in my BDG so I don't know if I'm suppose to have them or not, and if I miss others.

Are you running version 2.11? Does it say version 2.11 on the main menu screen on the lower right?

If you have 2.11, then use the find under the edit to locate the line (top of windows File, edit, format view help).

Yes it says 2.11...and off course I ctrl+F in the BDG file to find my lines but they are missing, and maybe others...should I have the ones I'm missing in my BDG_out?

However the I pressed "T" in a RAF campaign mission so I saw the following codes: The JU87 were showing skills of Veteran2 and Regular2 and they were on Autobomb Manoeuvre Select before to switch do AutoFollow. Some dive bombed, some didn't. The fighters are ok showing autocombat and intercepting.

But, I previously set: Do_You_Want_Random_Mixed_Squad_skills=OFF and SPC_Skill_LUF=HERO : And they are showing as Veteran2 and Regular2 for any luftwaffe plane !?

However the skills are showing from Hero to regular when I turn the Do_You_Want_Random_Mixed_Squad_skills=ON and "luff skill modifier" to Maximum

Now my problem I think is the BDG file. I saw a post where you recommand someone to tune the Collision_Detection_And_Avoidance and I don't have this one too. I'm missing BDG lines, but never deleted any. It's the BDG I got after installing 2.11 and exiting the game for the 1st time. I even made a backup of this original in case and the lines are not appearing.

Maybe is there a way I can get the right BDG file?

The Bdg.txt file is re-done everytime you start BOBII so each line is re-done for version 2.11 with the players changes.

Delete your Bdg.txt file. Then start BOBII and it will be replaced. I am not sure what is going on here but deleting te Bdg.txt file will fix it and start you back to default settings which in your case is a good thing, IMHO.

The line:

SPC_Skill_LUF=NONE # valid selections (must spell correctly or defaults to NONE): HERO, ACE, VETERAN, REGULAR, POOR, NOVICE, NONE (NONE is default means no forced SPC skill level)

This line is for the SPC campaign only, so setting SPC_Skill_LUF=HERO (note, must be all caps and spelled correctly) will result in all the LUF skill levels being HERO only in the SPC campaign.

Ok I deleted it but got the same BDG when I exit the game, it was reset to default but still the lines I was missing are still missing. My BDG_out also note: "I could not open the file 'bdg.txt" after the 1st time since I deleted it. (maybe it's normal). I think I'm still missing lines!

I don't have :

Collision_Detection_And_Avoidance
Initial_Max_Number_AI_Targeting_Player
AI_Targets_Player_After_HitOrMiss
Novice_Stronger_Bullets
Collision_Avoidance
REDUCE_SURFACE_DEFLECTION
BDG_Values.UseShortLabels = OFF
BDG_Values.Show_MoveCodes = OFF

I do not have these lines in my BDG.txt and probably more lines that I don't know

I still have the main problem wich are tail gunners not shooting

Everyone has the same Bdg.txt lines (same Bdg.txt code) if they are running the version 2.11.

You must have lines like:

SHORTENED_LABELS
Single_Chararacter_Labels
FADING_LABELS
Show_MoveCodes

You will not have lines like Collision_Detection_And_Avoidance as it was replaced by:
Collision_Avoidance_Rear_End = 10.000000 #Set to seconds
Collision_Avoidance_Head_On = 15.000000 #Set to seconds

You must be looking some old Bdg.txt files and asking these questions but lines change , are added, and deleted from version to version.

Have you tested with Hero skill level for the JU87's in the SPC after setting:

SPC_Skill_LUF=HERO

Ok...and yes I tested skill HERO spelled right and with Do_You_Want_Random_Mixed_Squad_skills=OFF and they show up as Veteran or Regular in the label

Only at Random_Mixed_Squad_skills=ON and skill modifier to maximum I find Aces and Heros, but the gunners are still not firing

Yes, the Do_You_Want_Random_Mixed_Squad_skills=ON will override the SPC skill SPC_Skill_LUF=HERO. You can just set to test:

Do_You_Want_Random_Mixed_Squad_skills=OFF
SPC_Skill_LUF=HERO

I just tried a SPC mission against Ju87 and they fired at me and shot me down once and killed my engine the second time. They were ACE1 skill level.

Are you approaching the JU87 from below where they can not see you?

Yes I'm doing it with and I still see them as Veteran2...However I don't think the skill is the cause because when I'm doing an Instant action mission they are shooting at me no matter the skill level. In spc, even if I fly close above their tail they are not shooting, except for one JU87 at the front who try a few shots at me (showing Veteran2 also), and only this one will shoot for the whole mission. I just need to take a little distance from him and I can have all others 35 JU87s without seeing a single bullet tracer at me.

And the ME110 are dogfighting but their gunner never shoot, wich is very different when I play Instant action where their gunners are challenging me for the whole fight.

It's clearly not what it's supposed to be cause I can compare with the Instant action missions.

Currently I'm running a clean 2.06 patched to 2.11 with only the BDG changes we were talking

Strange, we are getting different results. The JU87 shoot me like crazy in my SPC missions against JU87's. The code is the same for all missions IA, campaign, and SPC. The code does not know where you playing (SPC, campaign or IA) so if it works in IA it has to work the same in the Campaign and SPC unless you have a setting that I do not have which I can not think what it could be.

The hand held guns can only fire on a timer and when the movement of the gun permits seeing the enemy.

You can try as a test:

Do_You_Want_Increase_Firing_Rate_Of_Hand_Held_Gunners=ON

This will increase the rate of fire of the hand held guns (bombers, Ju87, and 110) by removing the timer.

Yeah I was already using the increase firing rate at ON. Maybe I should re-install again. I heard of an uninstaller program for bob2 2.11 and a self installer. It might fix it better than a windows uninstall. Also, is the 2.11 self installer a full installation? I cannot find it since the only link I found wasn't running.

:) I think the game comes with the uninstaller with it.If you load the disc it should take you through it and the options if i remember are to install or uninstall.
I haven't loaded the game for a year so hopefully my memory will not be too bad.
