I flew (and I use that term very loosely) the MK1a for my first test flight. It didn't go too well (pilot error all the way). So after dinner I decided to have a look at the MK II's.

I can't bring either of the MK II's up in the details window, and FSX won't load them when selected. It just crashes with that do you want to send a report box. I've tried several times, and then restarted the PC and tried again. Same result. All I get is a greenish silhouette in the "spinning window" and it won't draw the textures for the plane.

The MK I's seem to work fine. Any ideas? Anyone else getting this?

EDIT: The MK I's aren't working now either. Very strange. The only thing I did before dinner was use the configurator to set some joystick buttons etc. I set an elevator trim, rudder trim, and radiator flap axis, and a Landing gear manual pump button.

Specs as follows:

Windows XP Pro 32bit Core 2 Duo 1.87Ghz, 2 gig Ram, Geforce GT 240 with 1 gig Ram. FSX Gold Acceleration edition.

Hummm....you might try changing the texture sizes. Start by reducing the bump maps in the texture_a and texture_b
folders. You might also want to convert those two to DDS. That MAY help.

I was having a similar issue with my Xp Pro X32 install but now with my Win7 X64 install.

Do the textures of the Mk. Ia's load slowly? If so then I would definitely resize those bump maps.

I double-posted with GB, but yes, it could be texture related.

I assume you have installed both the Wings of POWER 3 Spitfire and Accu-Sim in that order.

Did you run the DirectX update at the end of the Wings of POWER 3 install? Did it complete?

If not, you can run it from here:

@ Scott, yes Spitfire first, then accusim. It did install the DirectX update, and I flew the MK I in a circuit (after over heating once), and landed with a bit of steam coming out the engine. I shut down, and checked the engine and compression. One piston was knackered already. I did a complete overhaul, and ended flight. Went to dinner, and after getting back, none of the planes will load or are viewable in the details window.

I doubt it will texture resolutions, as I flew it once, and everything looked amazing.

Tigerclaw,

Please reboot your PC and come back to us, just to be sure.

Scott.

This is the exact same issue I have been having. Multiple re-installs of the product, and reboots of the computer, have done nothing. DirectX was installed as per instructed. I have not been able to load completely any of the Mk.II's, and the Mk.I I have only been alble to load every once in a while, with only one in-sim experience - which CTD'd after I changed the weather and the aircraft was reloading.

I am just finishing up a clean reinstall of FSX Acceleration, and will be giving it a try again.

Okay, rebooted twice, just to make sure everything was clean, and tried again. No luck, none of the aircraft will show up in the details window, or load into FSX. Going to edit out the WOP3 Spit from the FSX.CFG file, and reinstall. Will report back when done.

Hi, I am having the same issue.
Rebooted PC, Reinstalled Spitfire, to no avail.
Error exists under XP SP2 32 bit, no problems in W7 Pro 64.
FSX is installed with Acceleration pack under both operating systems.
Following is valid for XP32bit:
I can load a flight (e.g. with the default Cessna), no problem. Then I select the Spitfire, the aircraft model loads untextured and then the FSX crashes, so I too am thinking this is kind of texture related.
I have a Geforce GTX460 Graphics card with 1GB memory, I don't think this might be the problem, right?
Any suggestions so far?

Can you both post your sound cards?

Furthermore, Bomber, can you provide data for your computer please?

My computer specs are as follows:

AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.21 GHz
2.00 GB RAM
ATI RADEON X1650
Running Windows XP Pro x64
FSX Acceleration
Sound card is 'Realtek HD Audio'

Despite a clean reinstall, I still have experienced the same issue - this with the base product without accusim - I have had the same results either or.

Bomber have you tried saving the bumpmaps as dxt5 files to see if it helps. I know I don't need to tell you to flip the textures first :)

I deliberately kept the bumpmaps as very large .BMP files to keep the quality high. None of our beta testers, some of whom have lower end systems had issues with the large texture sizes so I never felt the need for creating dxt versions. If this turns out to be the case then I will get alternative .DXT version uploaded asap for those with lower spec systems.

After reinstall of the base product (without Accusim) I was able to bring up the "MK Ia 92 Squadron May 1940" into the details window. But when I tried to look at the other Mk Ia it wouldn't load, and no MK II's load. It seems I only get one try after install, then it won't load anymore.

Haven't reinstalled Accusim yet.

What next?
