Help! My FSX defaults to 0.69 zoom in virtual cockpit, but I want it to default to 0.40. I have changed the relevant section in the Cameras.CFG to read : Initial Zoom = 0.40 but it still defaults to 0.69. I have included the Virtual cockpit section of my Cameras.CFG file below. Is there another entry I need to make to get a default zoom of 0.40? Thanks to anyone able to help with this. Oh, and nowhere in my Cameras.CFG can I find the value 0.69 so whats going on?

This will be because your default flight is probably set to 0.69. The way round that is load up the default flight, change the zoom to what you want it to be, then re-save it as the default flight (making sure you tick the box). That should solve the problem.

Thank you Tony. My default flight was still "Over Puget Sound" (The microlight flight near Seattle) I changed the zoom to 0.40 and saved it as default but that didnt help. So I loaded it again, changed the Zoom to 0.40, changed to the Spit and changed location to EGPH (My home Field) and saved that as the default flight. When I loaded that flight all was ok. Not sure why I couldnt get the original default flight to accept the change in zoom but its all ok now so thank you for your help. It's much appreciated.

The Zoom level is saved with each flight so you can save separate zooms for different flights.

Try Shift + O

Thats enables a mouse look and the mouse wheel can be used for zooming. So you can zoom in and out at your leisure while flying. Its a toggle so just press it again when you have set it where you like. Personally I use TrackIR for start ups and landings but for long flights where I dont want the cockpit moving about with all my head movements I pause TrackIR - I never managed to get rid of some annoying jitter with FSX and my old TrackIR 4 even after a lot of profile tinkering. Maybe I should invest in a mark 5 with the track clip pro but seeing as I don't wear headphones when flying I would have nothing to clip them onto.

Mmmmm, don't know why it didn't work first time, but at least you got it sorted that's the main thing. Glad to be of help.

The Track clip pro is indeed much better than using the little silver reflector. Why not just buy buy the track clip pro and a cheap pair of lightweight headphones to clip it onto? That would be a much cheaper option than fully upgrading to a TiR5 and would still be an improvement on what you have now.

I was tempted by the bundle of a TrackIR 5 (due to the better resolution) and the track clip pro. But you are right in that doing it that way Killerwatt, I would at least save some money to try it out.

Might look at ways of securing the clip to my head using a soft band or something cause I really dont' want earphones on when I have a decent sound system making lovely Merlin sounds.

More investigation is required I think :)

Thats why I suggested a really lightwieght pair of headphones. something like http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalo ... EMQ8wIwBA#
Then you can just not bother plugging in the phones but just attach the mic and still have your sound system working. Just make sure to buy a set with mini jack connecters and not usb if you want to use the mic on its own.
