I have the A2A AccuSim B-17 installed, plus a few "paints" (46) for the A2A MP folks I fly with.
The Problem is, when I go to "Free Flight" in FSX, select an A2A AccuSim B-17 to fly, as soon as
the screen with the plane opens, the plane "collapses" to the ground.
I set the "view" to see the port side on opening, opened FSX, selected a B-17 and as the screen
opened, I saw that the "cold & dark" plane was 6-8 feet above the runway with the gear-up, then the B-17
crashed to the runway.
I cannot find anything wrong with the add-on B-17's (looking in the Aircraft.cfg file, etc. but I
know nothing about computer code, either) It's bugging the hell outta me.. The only way I can fly my
beloved B-17 is to start with a Default FSX plane (I use the DC-3), once it's open, I then go to
"Aircraft" in the bar across the top of the screen and select aircraft to get to my B-17..
I really would like to fix whatever is wrong so I don't have to wait thru two plane "boot-ups" to fly..

I would try going into the flight in a default aircraft, switching to the B-17 and then saving that flight (as default if you like).

Then next time you want to fly, load that saved flight. Problem should be fixed.

I'm not sure I would mess around with saving the B-17 as the default flight, even if you had previously loaded up a default aircraft.

If it were me, I would load up the Cessna, save it as the default flight, and from then on out, load the B-17 and any other airplane you fly from the Free Flight GUI.

Gentlemen;
I can load a default FSX plane (DC-3) then "switch" to the B-17, and that works. I did set a B-17 as my "Default" plane (I had it that way before in both FS9 and FSX), but that does not work, now.
I have never needed to load a default plane before, so I believe there is a proper solution to this problem.
I am seeking the info that will correct my current problem.
Thanks for your replies.

I thought I inform those interested what solved the problem of the A2A AccuSim B-17
loading-up on the runway with the gear up..
Seems Bill Gates is at it again.
I spent a lot of time programing my Controllers (CH Yoke & Rudder Pedals and a pair
of Saitek Throttle Quadrants) and thought they were a "done deal".. Not so!! Seems the
Micro$lop Gremlins decided to install a Landing Gear (toggle) in BOTH my Saitek throttle
Quadrants. That was the apparent cause of the opening B-17 crashing to the runway
with the gear up!! Who'd a thunk it??
So, problem solved.
I do appreciate the replies to my query and offer my Thanks!

Oh Yes, that wonderful feature...I think we've all run into problems with that before, in some way, shape, or form: It is kind of like an FSX right of passage. Every time you add in a new controller, it automatically assigns about 50 stupid things to it, which you need to delete, and sometimes it takes a couple tries to successfully delete all of them, for no apperent reason. I remember well the first several hours I wasted because of that...Now at least you'll know where to look the next time kooky things start happening...Glad you found what was causing it! :)

Spider;
Thanks. After several days of removing Textures/Paints and reinstalling them one at a time (and the associated restarts to see if "that worked", I spent a number of hours digging (line-by-line) into the Aircraft.cfg file, comparing to a fellow B-17er's (we fly the same MP, so we have the same "paints" loaded).. I believe the "root cause" came about because I "rebuilt" the FSX.cfg file for a different issue (which was corrected), which started everything "from zero".. this is when, I believe, Micro$lop "added" the extra landing gear commands.. Enough to drive one to drinking... okay, drinking more than usual ;-}

Back-up your "Standard.xml" file. That is where the controller assignments reside.

Paul;
We'll be in Elington's flight together, at 1900 Zulu (different teams) .. I hope David starts TS early,
if he does, I'll pick your brain about this "Standard.xml" file, then..
"See you" tomorrow (well, in about twelve hours ;-} )
