I picked this up last weekend with the Accu-sim package. I must say a big KUDOS to A2A crew and beta testers on once again an excellent job. Among other things, the fully simulated fuel system is a joy to operate.
Coming from the Accu-sim B377 and B17, the P40 is (of course) an entirely different animal and this being my first single engine Accu-sim aircraft, it really drives home (to me anyway) just how much workload was placed on these fighter pilots who didn't have the 'luxury' of a flight crew coming along for the ride...especially with all the manual systems of the P40 (I must say I kinda miss the co-pilot giving me props when I touch down perfectly though lol).
I keep waiting to hear "we're stalling" when putting this bird through its paces as well...

One tip for those new flyers to the P40 (and I've seen this mentioned by others on this forum and can attest to it): empty the fuselage tank if you're going to do any aerobatics...and especially if you're going to attempt stalls and flat spins. I got bitten very early on with a fatal flat spin but after emptying this tank and trying again, I can now recover from what seems like even the worst flat spin just by applying opposite rudder, full forward on the stick and cutting the power.
I just received the original P40 training films on DVD from Zenos Warbird Videos website and it's a real treat to be able to watch the videos (the trainers back then also put the plane up on jacks

) then fly 'by the book' in FSX and operate all the systems and stay focused on keeping her flying.
The P40 is indeed a masterpiece and a real 'hands on' plane without a doubt. Look forward to taking her up again many a time and seeing how that Allison holds up.
Cheers,
Harm
