I've purchased the P-40 and installed 1.2 of accusim. A few minutes ago I wanted to take out my spit MArk I for a ride in the cold - and engine hours and status are lost! Not only that but it simply doesn't start anymore. At 0°C with 12 primer strokes and fuel pressure given by previous revolutions via electric starter this is a wonder, especially because my engine is now brand new :-(
God I had 30 hours on that beautiful one

The loss of the hours is normal, too many changes had been made for the earlier engine profiles to be valid.

Regarding the problems on startup, i noticed these too, in manual more or less 12 strokes would be sufficient for startup, but well the plane is not the manual so it can differ, however not so much that you can't actually start it i believe, already sent the massage to Mr. Scott with a question regarding this problem. 8)

Regards.

I managed to start, you have to prerun your starter a bit more to get enough fuel into the tubes I think.

Did that on my end, what was your throttle setting, have you visited a hangar in the process, maybe changed weather settings?

I have no problem starting in cold weather. Are you sure this is related to cold weather?

Well, maybe it has something to do with alititude at start up, i tried today to start the plane at Belp in Schwitzerland 1650 feet elevation, downloaded real weather, changed temp to 25 F(This was already done in startup screen)

Edit: Then i moved to a lower place, still no effect, maybe i will tell how i start it up:

1.Fuel cocks-on
2.Starter mag-on
3.Primer-12 strokes
4.Checked the engine, fluids
5.Open the throttle 1/3
6.Starter-on, let it ride for some time
7.Magnetos-Both on

Tried to help myself with the trolley, but no effect, the engine will sometime catch for a second, then i prime it some more.

Just to be clear, can you start it on a normal day (59 deg F)? If so, at what temp does it become impossible for you to start?

No problem, on a default weather it catches all of the time

On the other hand when in low temp i even try to for example auto start it, the sound is so high pitched (the starter) that i don't believe it would be possible for it to stay together, its like it tries to overcome the cold with power not available normally

All changes i made to the weather were prior to loading the scenario, in start up menu, not when the sim was already loaded, temps 30 to 20 are making it undoable

Edit.New problem: Starting on the primer only doesn't work, checked on default weather and new engine, only when the fuel cocks are selected, it can start.

To the best of my knowledge the Spitfire does not have a mixture cutoff, but that low running cut out puller that you yank when you wish to shut down. So the fuel cocks must be on (just like in the P-40 you must have a tank selected) for the primer to work. Since the Spitfire does not have any fuel setting except weak or rich then the primer start will not apply to it. I hope this makes some sense.. So in the Spitfire you should be opening the fuel cocks, pulling the mixture back to rich (Not sure if it applies to the MkI, I only fly the IIb), and then give her the shots of primer, and hit the starter. Should work like a champ.

You're attempting to prime from tanks which are cut off.

Thought the primer bypassed the the fuel-cocks...according to the Fuel System diagram in the Manual the Priming Pump has a seperate feed from the lower tank.

Yes. I was found to be wrong. My apologies. They are independent.

Already sent a message to Mr. Killratio, just for a 100% confirmation, becouse there is some cofusion about it, mainly the later marks required a primer- only start-up.
