I was wondering if there are plans to ever make b-17 sim that also features combat?
I loved b-17 the mighty eight and CFS3 just isnt designed for full scale WWII bombing campaigns.
Every once in a whil WWII combat sims are released but they allways seem to ignore the b-17 , at least in a realistic flyable way .
I dont understand why this is, to me the most interesting part of the WWII airwar was the bombing campaign from 1942/3 to 1945.
If it would feature playable escort fighters and enemy fighters allongside playable b-17 then i dont see why this wouldnt be succesfull.
Just imagine what it what a combatsim would look like with a formation of accusim b-17,s! I sure as hell would buy it!

We share your passion for it, and with our B-17, are in a nice position to make such a sim. But we are taking things as fast as we can, but w/o cutting corners.

Scott.

If this is of great interest to you, come have a look at us here:

http://www.91stbombardmentgroup.com/

We regularly fly recreations of historic missions. Currently we are following the
1943 missions with another trip to Hamburg on March 3, 2012 followed by
a mission to Kiel. As the Group Missions XO I have flight plans created now
for the missions that will take us to the end of 1943 in 2012.
I also have created FLAK effects for our missions as well as effects for
bomb explosions, fires, smoke, etc for use in the Multiplayer missions.

On non-mission days there are often traing flights around Bassingbourn or
formation flights elsewhere.

In addition to the A2A B-17G we also fly the A2A P-47, Spitfies and P-40,
We also fly the earlier A2A P-51 while waiting for the Accu-Sim version! :)

So this means there is hope somewhere in the foreseable future , and this hope lies somewhere in a point in time and with a2a simulations?

Sounds interesting indeed . I,m currently messing avound with the pmdg 737 800 ngx . But i will buy the accusim b-17 if i can muster the money and ill be sure to fly missions and formations with you guys as soon as i master teh b-17. Personally i live in the netherlands in Venlo near the german border. Venlo had an german airport in WWII that was a very important airport for intercepting massive b-17 formations that were heading for the ruhr area. Its just something about the flying fortress that attracts people like me even to this day for some reason.

One of the things the 91st does is give our pilots plenty of "practice time" in the B-17G, as well as the other A2A WWII aircraft.
You can "master" the B-17G in the company of others :)

Aweosme, I might have to reinstall my B-17 copy. I remember using the old mods to get olive green re-skins, extra flak and extra formations. Such a fun game, shame development was cut short.

Here's another that means alot to me and is a real real classic;

SimHQ still has an active EAW community with new patches etc still being released! Best place to go to check how to get the thing running on modern hardware.
