Hi all,

Has anyone made available for download a 'clean' treaded P40 tyre texture? The default tyre 'skin' shows dirt and is smooth.

I remember seeing one included with a skin in the recent past, but just wondering if there was a seperate download available or if anyone knows which custom skin has this included. I've done a quick search already but it didn't seem to turn up much.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Harm

The original download was just additional layers for the paintkit, which would be useless to anybody who doesn't have PhotoShop or (like me) can't seem to be able to make the necessary plug-ins work. The download has been updated, however, to give an alternate tread pattern and also to provide 'ready to use' dds files. Here is the text taken directly from the download's Readme:

I've updated these files since the previous release to include a 4 straight channel tread, in addition to the cross hatch tread.
The cross hatch tread pattern is from the A2A Simulations accusim P-47, and resized it to fit the P-40. I hope someone finds it useful.

I've included these files:

P40B_Tire_Tread_full.psd
P40B_Tire_Tread_SPEC.psd
and a folder called "bump files" containing 2 alternate versions of the same file.
P40B2_t_bump.dds
each labeled for the corresponding tread pattern.

The PSD files contain two layers in each file, sized and positioned appropriately.
I suggest opening both the original paint kit file and my file, then SHIFT + Drag the two layers from my file, into your paint kit.

I've also edited the P40B2_t_bump.dds "bump map," adding in the tread patterns.
This file can be direcly dropped into any existing repaint folder to give the look of treads on already painted P-40s.
The mud layer obscures it a bit, but you can see them fairly well with just the dds file.

Sorry I wasn't around here much of March and didn't see this. I hope you found what you were looking for, of not I'm back and happy to try and help.

Thanks for the help Skycat, I hope you get the paintkit working sometime. GIMP should work, but I'd have no idea where to start with it.

Thanks everyone for the help.

I installed the bump map provided above by Skycat for now and I have the nice 3D effect of the treads, but the skin I'm using still has the muddy effect for now. I haven't had much time to look into it lately, but thanks again for the assistance all...yes even you Levkovvvv. :P

Cheers,
Harm

Point of order, I didn't add anything to the download. All I did was post the text from the file's readme. :)
