Soon - very soon - the feared Zerstorer Tankfüllung, shown in this rare gun footage photo, will finally be a thing of the past.

Those are drop tanks right? What does that have to do with 'Zerstorer Tankfüllung', or 'tank destroyer'?

I think he's referring to the current WoP2 P-51 bug where dropped tanks sometimes remain visible in the sky below and behind the aircraft. I assume the joke is that the tanks trail behind and become an obstacle (destroyer) to any aircraft that gets on the pilot's six o'clock.

"Tankfüllung" does not fit very well here: simply "Tank" (yes, like the english "tank")

As we german like to put words together, it's then called "Zerstörertank" (in this case plural "Zerstörertanks")

But as we also like to describe technical expressions in a very complicated way it would be called:
"Schleppvorrichtung zur Passivbekämpfung verfolgender Feindflugzeuge"

and therefore putted together:
"Feindflugzeugpassivbekämpfungsschleppvorrichtung"

You see: german is simple!

I don't have a joke, more a story, that could be perceived as funny.

I just finished my final semester at Uni and was really tired, but not tired enough to not want to catch up on A2A's latest. One of my assignments was based around ethic and governance so I had been following the recent Leveson enquiry into Rupert Murdoch and his 'willful blindness'. I Can't remember exactly which thread it was but Lewis left a comment and I mistook his profile picture initially (a second perhaps) for James Murdoch  Apologies Lewis

That was just the tip of iceberg for that day, nearly missed by train stop, the only colour printer in our business school broke down 20 mins after I had finished printing thank god :D etc.

Just thought I would share my crazy week and the personal strain it has put on me. Now I am back for good, no Uni, no Job yet but lots of time

Them are some serious tanks Killratio. Maybe if she taught me German... I wouldn't necessarily learn German but ...

Hang in there M-D. Put your feet up and have a beer or two, but not six. Sounds like you earned it.

I do wonder how Darryl has become so adept at picking out voluptuous Bavarian girls :P ANZAC Spitfire pilot shot down during the war? ;would explain the impressive knowledge

A German once told me never to enter a drinking contest with a Bavarian girl. He said they had big jugs and could swallow a lot
Nowadays I am not sure he was talking about the large Steins (Beer Jugs)
