I have an ELITE throttle quadrant ( TQ ) type MEL, that is a TQ for a twin-engined aircraft. It works with every aircraft / a/c ) that I have installed, both single and twin-engined, just not with A2A's P-51 with AccuSim. The TQ is working; I calibrated it using the proprietary confi tool ( from ELITE ) so it is sending signals to the PC. It does not work with FSUIPC.
I had installed another version of the P-51 ( not by A2A ) and it works with that, too.
So, there must be something that is incompatible between the ELITE system ( hw/sw ) and A2A's product.
Can someone from A2A offer any advice ( or any other person, of course )?
I really like the a/c by A2A ( I have the Spifire, not yet installed )! The look and feel of the fighter is veery good. It is just not responding to my efforts to start it, and neither the throttle nor the Prop and the Mixture levers in the aircraft are moving when I move the lever...
Thanks!
Volker

The fact it does not work with FSUIPC leaves me suspicious about the throttle itself. FSUIPC reads any axis available on the computer, and you can utilize the axis in multiple ways. If FSUIPC does not read it, it is certainly possible Windows itself doesn't read it unless it is using the ELITE software itself to control the axis.

Accu-Sim is not using a standard throttle system, so unless it is mapping directly to the standard FSX throttle through it's software, I would imagine there could be possible conflicts. Most other addons do a direct mapping, however the throttle in the P-51 is nothing more than a manifold pressure regulator handle, meaning that it does not directly control the engine but rather tells the engine what you, the pilot, want.

I'm not at my computer right now, but you might want to see if you can map it through FSX (which I am sure you have tried) or perhaps ask the ELITE support if there is anything they can help with. I'm not familiar enough with this, but have heard of this particular hardware/software combo giving people issues in this, and other simulators.

You could try the A2A configuration tool located in your fsx/a2a/p51 folder and see if you can get a response from that. If that doesn't work, you might want to Google for solutions, search this forum using the search feature and/or wait for someone who has experience via FSUIPC or this ELITE hardware/software.

VTracy, if the throttle is not being read by FSUIPC then its a throttle issue as cody says the program simply reads axis attached to the PC. The elite when mentioned from the other thread rang a bell for some reason and ive now found out why.

Yesterday we were emailed by the company themselves re: this. It seems they do things differently than other hardware companies when it comes to the computer reading a joystick/axis/input device. I'm just waiting for the chap who programmed the joystick app and controller code to get back so I can chase this up to see what can be done.

thanks,
Lewis

Guess we know why they call their company "Elite", they're in a class by themselves. ROFL!

ELITE is an interesting company that's been around for quite a while. They mainly build Flight Training Devices for flight schools, but have recently come into the market of providing PC-ATD equipment (read equipment for FSX and X-Plane). As such, they build what is essentially custom hardware designed primarily to comply with FAA regulations to provide certified FTD equipment. In many ways, it is indeed "Elite", but it causes problems once you move away from the PC-ATD arena and into the general simulations market because of them being so used to operating under a much more "confined" regulatory environment.

BTW, I've done a bit of training on an ELITE Cessna Glass setup and it was one of the better ones I've flown. Much better than the FRASCA's that I'm so used to.

Thank you to all who have replied so far. It seems that I - inadvertently, I assure you! - have stumbled on an incompatibility issue between the A2A P-51 and the ELITE TQ software(?).
My clues:
1. The TQ uses proprietary drivers for the interface to FSX.
2. The TQ does not show up in FSUIPC.
3. The TQ works in all other a/c that I have installed including a P-51 by another vendor, and other a/c by A2A.
From Lewis' enty, I take it that there is already a contact between ELITE and A2A in this matter. Needless to say, I am VERY anxious about the outcome! I have come to know ELITE as a very responsive company, eager to support me as their customer ( albeit a 'small value' one ), to help me. So, I am convinced that the two good companies ( i. e. good people ) will work out a solution for all of us P-51 pilots.
Looking forward... ;-)

Hello Vtracy,

our controller coder will be in contact with Elite. As noted I dont think this will be a 24hr quick fix as Elite will need to update there drivers etc once we know exactly what information is required. Ill try and keep you informed in this thread.

thanks,
Lewis

Ahh, Colonel, Sir!
Thank you for your valiant efforts. If I can do anything to help in this matter, let me know, please.
I'll keep my focus on this forum...

BTW: I misspoke when I said that the TQ worked with other A2A-AccuSim products ( here: Spitfire ). I just re-installed ( for a different reason ) the Spit anew and added AccuSim. Apparently, I had forgotten to do that, before: All of a sudden, the TQ did not work any more...!
So, here's my heipenny's worth of wisdom: It seems that the interface between the Elite TQ and AccuSim does not work.
After this, I withdraw quickly

PS: Lewis, I shall be in ????? during the last week of July. Very near to you! hehe.

Censor filter has gone nuts on where you will be. Try it with spaces or somthing.

It seems that the auto-censor deleted a county in the south..: Eastbourne.

Lewis

I am not going to mention that(!) county in Southern England again...
Any news on the ELITE MEL throttle and the P-51?
