Scott,

In 3D mode when the Sun is not at your back, the cockpit is extremely dark and even turning on the lights does not help too much. Could you provide a patch that would lighten the interior in 3D cockpit mode so the instruments and controls can be seen better ?

Also, the engine sound is suspect. But how many people have heard a D9 or 152 engine. It should sound like a DB601 or 603. How did you develop the sounds for the D9 and 152 ?

Those are my only concerns at this time.

Regards
Jib01/02

No, all the Long Nose variants use an inline engine, whereas the original Focke Wulf 190’s use the BMW radials. They sound completely different.

Scott.

Ah, Scott...the DB601 and 603 engine's he's talking about are the inline engines on the 109's with the 603 also being on the Me-410

OK- sorry I missed that. One thing I wasn't sure about was whether the Junkers engine had a distinctive whine or whistle that the 109's had.

As for the cockpit lighting, we really like the lighting as it is so we are reluctant to change it, but I think it can be changed pretty easily in the aircraft.cfg files and the FX files. This doesn't require editing of the models themselves.

Scott.

Now the TA-152C did have a Daimler-Benz 603 engine whereas the TA-152H had the Jumo 213 engine....

Jib,
There's a couple of decent freeware DB soundsets out if you're interested 8)

I have very good sound recordings of the DB605 and am thinking we could include some of the characteristic whine / whistle in the DB603. When doing the sounds for the 152C I was thinking it would require all new wav files, but now that I think of it again, it could be done quite well w/o adding a large amount of size to the package.

Give me a day or so to pull up these recordings and see what can be done.

Scott.

Scott,

What do I need to do to the vc_light.fx file to make it lighter in the cockpit of the 190 ? How will this affect the other aircraft ?

Jib,

First, we are 100% for giving people all the options they can have, and this is why I am looking into the cockpit lighting. Personally, I like it very much and definately don't want it brighter on my system. However, if there is a way to change it outside the model, we would certainly like to do it for you.

Regarding the sounds, standby. I appreciate your comment on this. I am not 100% sure the 603 has this distinctive whine, but if I were to guess, I would probably say it did (but that is just a guess). Seeing that we spent so much time on the engine characteristics and differences between the two engine's function and performance, it makes even more sense to have the sounds reflect that in this way.

For some reason I didn't think of doing the sounds for the 152C in the way we are trying now, and so far, I like what I am hearing over here. Let us test this a little more, and if we get a good sound out of it, we'll include this in the form of an update.

Scott.

I have Glacier Girl and although it is nice, I would LOVE to see Shockwave do a P-38 with their high quality standards. :D

I have it as well, but Scott and his team have spoiled me rotten  on his planes. A P-38 from them would be nothing short of AWESOME!!!!.

Here is a quick update on a new DB603 engine sound we're working on for the Ta152C. The movie features two high speed passes.
