B-17 Voice Control Checklist Alpha Build Demo Video

Post by Capt Richardo »

Hi all

Well I have just uploaded a video of the alpha build of the Voice Control Checklists for the B-17.

Please note this is a rough cut video with MS Anna as the Co-pilot (and all the other crew) this is not the finished version, the final release will have US voices for all the crew.

This is the first of a set of four (maybe five) videos to demo what to expect from the Voice Control Checklists for the B-17.

Thanks to Paul for you good work with the base program.

I will try and get the other videos uploaded in the next few days.

Hope you like this alot of work has gone in to this.

Expect final build to be released by Christmas depending on voice over artists completing the finished sound files. Its also programmed to work with TTS voice packs.

Hope you like it ... Let me know what you think.

Thanks Norfoce ... Ive put in a lot of work to make the checklists as real as possible, easy to follow but cover all the items you need to cover but most of all add even more depth to this great package.

Along with the guys working on the voice files there is a few of us working to bring this to you B-17 lovers.

If you like it please say as it gives us the will to put the time in to this so you can all enjoy it.

Couple more Alpha teast videos to come on Monday then its head down to finish everything for Christmas release.

Cheers

Captain Richardo,
This is going to be a very nice addition to the B-17. I am continually amazed at the amount of talent and skill present in this community! Thanks for all your hard work. Do you have all nine member of the crew assembled?

Hi Guys

Sorry its been a wile since my last post ive been flat out on lots of projects.

Ok ... B-17 Voice Control Checklists update.

Checklist items/flows complete
Voice files about 80% complete
I started the manual today

I have a voice-over artist from the US working with me on this and there are/will be around 500 checklist items/voice files .. This project is comming together well and should add another great dynamic to the B17.

I am tight on time and i have to fit in christmas shopping and a birthday before christmas.

If i cant get this released i will upload a vid showing some of the completed items but i will try my best to give you B-17 pilots a co-pilot to fly with for the holidays!

If you like what i have done please say and show your support, my wife might allow me more time to work on this!!

Cheers

Rich

There is still an opportunity for community involvement for the voice files, I believe. In addition to the Co-Pilot voice (approximately 450 files) there are eight crew positions. I don't think any of these crew positions have been recorded. There are a total of 25 crew files, anywhere from 2-8 files per actor. If anybody would like to contribute navigator, bombardier, radio operator, flight engineer or gunner voice files, it is easy to do with Windows Sound Recorder and a microphone. It would probably take about ten minutes per actor. I can take on the coordination of the submissions if Rich prefers.

John

I'm happy for you to coordinate any additional crew files ... I'm not going to have the time myself ... you know what we need. If we don't get them i'll make some temp files up and update at a later date.

I'm writing the manual been on it most of the day and its 115 am here in the UK so im calling it a night tonight and start again in the morning, good job im off work now until 2nd Jan.

Cheers

Okay,

If anybody wants to help record any of the following characters, PM me and I'll send you the details:

1. Tail Gunner (3 phrases).
2. Right Waist Gunner (2 phrases).
3. Left Waist Gunner (3 phrases).
4. Ball Turret Gunner (5 phrases).
5. Radio Operator (3 phrases).
6. Flight Engineer (2 phrases).
7. Bombardier (6 phrases).
8. Navigator (2 phrases).

The Tail Gunner, the Left Waist Gunner and the Radio Operator have the most 'personality' as far as unique comments. In general, most of the crew phrases are either the individuals checking in as present or taking some kind of emergency action during the flight. It would be great to complete all eight parts.

Well, I'll just say this: I'm always amazed by how many 'American' stars appearing in U.S. films and television actually hail from England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
