Re: fuel transfer

YAAAAY! Well done Rob. That's the clearest way of describing it I've seen yet. I get over the whole balancing thing by starting off with the same fuel amount in each tank, then I don't need to balance. I've not yet flown a flight of long enough duration (or had an engine or tank problem) that's need...

Re: stopwatch

I'm nowhere near my FSX PC at the moment so can't tell... Isn't there a period stopwatch in the default DC-3?

Re: "Rare and sudden failure"

Must admit I've never seen the MAP increase with time comression. Even at 8x the plane continues to bimble nicely along at a regular pace. Crossing the Pacific can be a tad tedious without TC, and once the engines have settled down in the cruise it's fairly easy to jump back out to normal time for a...

Re: Performance data

Well done Vitus. Unfortunately, I'd already put Glenn onto that file, although I couldn't remember where I'd been able to get it from. It's not got the actual hard performance data that Glenn's after though.

Good hunting Glenn.

Re: A very Important Question :)

DOH! I didn't think of that!

Well there you go, a fix for every aeroplane without a GPS linked AP.

I shan't be using it though, I love the nostalgia value, and having something to do other than monitoring the FE panel.

Re: A very Important Question :)

I think the way that the plane is built may mean that coupling a GPS to the autopilot won't be possible... Don't quote me, but the 377 as made for FSX is a very complex beast and as far as I can tell pretty well everything in cockpit has to have some custom programming to make it work as it should. ...

Re: Just get me flying!

This has turned into a great thread. Take your time, the longest part of the learning process for me was getting the thing started, warmed up and taxiied into position ready for take off, all with AccuSim on. So the hints about getting a save at various stages of these processes is a good one, and o...

Re: Just get me flying!

Unfortunately for you, what makes the 377 such a great model IS the complexity. It is a huge beast that takes some gentle coaxing to get into the sky. Although once there, she handles very easily, and is one of the most docile and easy aeroplanes I've ever flown (in FS natch) outside of the take-off...

Re: P-47? Not for me...

My final word on this as it's going round and round and too many people don't seem to undertand what the main point here is. We're NOT talking about dollar prices, it's us Europeans who are feelin that this is a tad expensive. And not bcause A2A have decided to fleece everyone, but because the way t...

Re: Navigation

For ocean crossing I use my best judgemnet, and every hour I open the map from the navigators station and see how far off the course I've drifted. I fly using a premade flightplan and that appears as a magenta line on the Nav station map. It's an FSX cheat of course, but as I'm already doing the wor...

Oooooh... Hadn't thought of trimotors. In which case I'd sooner see the Junkers-52.

Re: Boy, I have to say...

We've already had a large long distance 4 engine beast... We've just been presented with a single engined monster...

Time for a sweet twin. DC-3 would be my choice as it's ubiquitous, still current in places and one of the landmarks of aviation history. Failing that, a DH Mosquito would do.

Re: SLEW MODE causes engine overheating

I've noticed in the past when using slew mode, if you pull up the Shift-Z text strings, that the Cessna 172 airspeed shows 15,000 KIAS when going full slew rate across country. It could be (as stated above) that AccuSim takes aircraft speed also from this string and when you're stationary in slew it...
