Re: B-17 Review on FlightSim

Hahaha, sorry Bruce. I had to push her outside of normal operating conditions just so I could talk about the damage engine, you see. But I did hate to abuse my favorite aircraft.

Cheers gents, thanks for your comments! I'm glad you enjoyed the review.

Re: Elevator snuffed it

Hmm... I might be in for something embarrassing lol :) I betcha that's it, but I could swear it didn't do this in the past when I only undid the elevator lock. Gosh. How did I miss that  --- UGH!!! I just booted up. How on earth could I forget about that big red lever. See, that's what non-Acc...

Re: Elevator snuffed it

Hey guys :) Thanks for your feedback, it's certainly appreciated. I've been away from the cockpit, but I booted up for a flight today and found that I still had the same problem. Steps that I took- Selected 'cold and dark'. Turned the control lock off and she still wasn't working. Did a full overhau...

Elevator snuffed it

Hey gents :) Something sort of funny happened today while I was perusing the Swiss Alps. My elevator just failed. Wouldn't do anything. Was this a one-off bug, perhaps with disengaging the Sperry, or is this an Accusim feature? I ask only because I've never encountered flight control failures with A...

Re: Bathing in More Glory

Hey Alan, thank you very much for that. I really do appreciate it. Constructive criticism is nice, but a compliment on a review always makes my day :)

I hope Urs will do that repaint- with his talent applied to, perhaps, a more average Cub in terms of wear and tear, it ought to be a winner :)

Re: Bathing in More Glory

Hey all, As the author of this review, I just want to say thanks for the interest. You all raise very good and valid points, and I really appreciate Treetop for pointing out the review. Alan, I see that you have come to see things a little bit the way I did, which prompted me to post this. It really...

Re: I got a $200 desktop that runs FSX well

Hi there,

I know what you mean. I ran FSX for about two years after it came out on a Dell 2400. It's almost sort of nicer because it's simple, at least in my mind :)

Anyway, glad to hear your enjoying it!

Meanwhile, somewhere in Arizona, a B-17G which served in the Pacific theatre and had been restored and renamed 'Sentimental Journey', was taxiing to the runway to take off.

Re: Cold start.

Cold start really isn't that different from regular start. The only difference is that you add 2 shots of the primer for cold weather, and 3 or more for really really cold. Otherwise, the docile little engine will hardly give you any trouble and doesn't necessitate a drastically altered procedure. A...
