Re: Switch control in P3D with the Cheery - LUA?

Hah thanks Nick, I noticed that that one is in the configurator... if only the others were!

Fortunately, many years ago I invested in a license for FSUIPC, so I'll take a look and see if it can do the job

Thanks :)

Switch control in P3D with the Cheery - LUA?

Gents, long time no speaky... I have the opportunity to help a close friend to learn to sim who, like many of us, has the bug, but not the £££ for real world training! After some time experimenting with XP11 and building a home cockpit modelled on the PA28, I'm hitting problems with the sim...

Re: The Cherokee is "Special"

The cherry is now the only plane I have installed on P3D... Beyond being my favourite aircraft I've had the privilege to fly in real life, the A2A Cherokee is just alive, smooth and joyous to fly. Predictable, stable, but never boring!

Re: What's the Point?

Thats really interesting! I thought that processors simply cared about millions of instructions per second, based on the clock cycle - So there is a calculable benefit of the 64 bit instruction set for a CPU? (Of course assuming the software can make use of it, as you said). Love forums like this, l...

Re: What's the Point?

To clarify - a 64bit operating system's only immediate benefit is the ability to address what seems for now like ridiculous quantities of RAM. Just quantities. Not faster, just more. It has little or no bearing on processor speed, disk transfer rate or bus speed. Those are handled by the chipset and...

Re: Dual Ultrawide or Triple 27"

Triple or single. I had dual for a bit but you can't avoid the middle bezel always being the centre of your eyepoint, which means the runway is always split either side on landing...

Re: Best ATC addon?

That's a shame, I have noticed the US can be a little light on controllers, which I find surprising. I've actually applied to visit Boston ARTCC to control KORH Worcester for GA aircraft to get some ATC away from the big airports, maybe you can come and make use? Otherwise, you could try the UK? Bec...

Re: Best ATC addon?

Could I ask what puts you off flying online? I tried many AI based ATC offerings and none of them come close to live ATC. If it's the fear of messing up, don't worry, we all do, even the controllers! The whole beauty of VATSim (I speak primarily of this as it's the one I use), is that it is a learni...

Re: Recommendations for new PC

I'm surprised you're having problems - I have all the sliders to the right, the only thing I have to turn off is cloud shadows as they murder my frames (and strangely don't show up on my photo scenery anyway!!). I get a solid 30FPS in the Cherokee, with Active Sky Next, Vatsim(vPilot) Traffic with a...

Re: VFR Flights within the UK?

I fly almost exclusively in the UK, and almost exclusively VFR in the Cherokee. Some favourite flights include: Gloucester to Bembridge Isle of Wight (via Solent CTA) Biggin Hill to Lydd or Shoreham or Southampton, but always with a transit of the Gatwick CTA north to south through the overhead for ...

Fuzzy Question

To all ye repainters of repute - a little advice most welcome :) I have a PSD from which I generated the TGAs for my original repaint. I exported the DDS from DXTBMP (they appear to be DXT5 if I reopen them in DXTBMP). They are lovely and sharp, e.g. the text. I recently decided to do a variation on...

Re: Advice on CPU Upgrade

Water coolers (I have a coolermaster seidon 120v) still use fans to remove heat from the radiator. I prefer it over a high quality air cooler as it allows me to vent heat directly to the room rather than blowing heat off the CPU into the case, thus increasing the ambient temperature in the case. As ...

Re: Advice on CPU Upgrade

I have an i7 920 (2.6GHz) which I clocked up to 4GHz using a £36 all in one water cooler. With HT off it runs at 53deg at full load. If you can't afford to upgrade your system yet (I'd love an i5 skylake but can't afford it) this might be a cost effective alternative? The 950 would easily manage ...
