Re: optimum landing speed
…the actual learning you do associated with flying an airplane occurs not when you are flying the plane but during the periods between the times when you are flying the pane. It's then, when you are relaxed and not under pressure, when thinking about what you did…. Whenever I fly any A2A product (e...

Re: B-17 Released for Prepar3D v4/v5
Been looking forward to a P3D version of this, having got the original version for my (now retired) FSX fleet. My laptop is of comparatively modest spec (I’ve had to turn down the sim options somewhat to get certain other aircraft to work reliably in VR) but I am impressed with the performance of th...

Re: Tip Tank Usage
Thanks Esa. I think I shall amend my own practice and only carry fuel in them when absolutely necessary and start draining them as part of my “cruise climb†workflow.

Tip Tank Usage
Hi Is there a recommended "best practice" for the Bonanza tip-tank usage? Specifically: 1. Is it advantageous to carry fuel in the tips "generally" (even when you haven't filled the main tanks) to give the wings a little more structural resistance to bending forces (such as what ...

Re: Wheel pants
There is also IRL the consideration when operating out of soft/muddy fields that not having fairings can reduce the amount of mud and grass needing to be removed from the wheel area.

Re: Low RPM after engine start
Hi While on the subject of engine starting and cold weather, I did a flight last evening from Trondheim to Bergen and deliberately shut down engine 3 in the cruise (FL160). I then attempted a restart and the RPM started out at something over 700rpm (not climbing in the 10 or 15 secs I was looking at...

Re: Big Shout out to the A2A Team & Autopilot Question
Indeed: I would say the overriding advice for smooth autopilot engagement in any aircraft is to already be in smooth steady flight before engaging it, so if engaging soon after takeoff I would say first get into a *gentle* climb, wings level, with climb power already set. Should you need to apply pi...

Re: Tip tank performance question
For the record, from the one test I have done the tip tank pumps appear to operate consistently at about 20 gals per hour i.e. full-to-empty in one hour. Test done at FL120, ISA conditions: Right main tank down to 45% full; switch to the Left main tank, then turn on right tip pump. Repeated for left...

Re: First Bonanza Gauge Failure
Me too: last night, after logging just under 25 hours, I took my Bonanza into the hangar for a "25 hour inspection" and the only gauge issue was the same as yours - the fuel-flow gauge under-reading. I haven't bothered repairing it, instead just taking note in my maintenance log (a log of ...

Re: So Many Planes...
Nope. Warbirds all the way. How difficult could the Bonanza be? More so than the Mustang? It doesn't matter. Just enjoy what you enjoy. :P Happy flying. Steve. Oh I, too, love flying my Spitfires, B17s and Mustangs; however, I fly for a virtual airline (UKDirect) on the FSAirlines.net communi...

Re: What my daughter hears when I'm talking on the phone....
As much as the wife is generally opposed to me "playing my plane game" , she does now work as a process-improvement specialist for an aviation company. So now whenever I mention any bumps and whirring-sounds etc during a flight she's more likely to say something like "probably ...

Re: So Many Planes...
As my next aim with the Bonanza is to try out some longer IFR flights (esp Jersey -> Faro -> Chambery) I have decided that my next few "short IFR flights" will be in a Comanche (a bit of English Channel hopping may be in order) and "short VFR flights" in the Skylane in and around...

So Many Planes...
You can have too much of a good thing, it seems. Is anyone else out there feeling frustrated that the Bonanza is just sooooo addictive that they are neglecting their previous hangar-favourites? I am so determined to spend my scarce spare-time putting the hours into the Bonanza to "get to the fi...

Re: Tip tank performance question
Ah, cool, so you could have both tip tanks simultaneously transferring to their respective main tank?
