Re: Spitfire Ignonimious Career Start
The BoB film, though excellent, has little to do with reality and it is not a documentary. I am surprised how often people refer to it here when there are many good documentary films around to be seen, full of real scenes and surviving pilots talking about it. I think it is not a good idea to judge...

Re: FX Sound Option
I believe it is refering to the Hi qualitiy Accusim sounds for the Spitfire, not the actual FSX sounds. The only difference is that the sounds uses are of lower quality, no loss of sounds as far as I am aware.

Re: Request for advice on researching given plane's paint st
Matching a specific serial number to an aircraft ID is not easy unless you find a profile or preferably a photo. As you pointed out yourself, individual aircraft code letters were changed regularly when aircraft were damaged or lost in combat. So if you picked one of the Vb serials I listed above an...

Re: Request for advice on researching given plane's paint st
Hi Jeff, 134 Squadron were assigned the code letters "GQ". From looking at serials for Spitfires assigned to 134 Squadron at that time it seems your father's Spitfire would have been one of the following. Vb - AA842 (With 134 Squadron from 11-2-42 until 6-6-42) Vb - AB198 (With 134 Squadro...

Re: Bader/COD and Spitfires flaps over at simHQ
The flap system in IL2 was discussed many times over the years. It had a generic one fits all model that inevitably leaves many aircraft with poorly modeled flap operation. For example the Spitfire had variable flaps when it shouldn't. The fact that it looks like the same system will be present in C...

Re: First Ever Spitfire, My Second Ever Paint Job
Hi Nyxx,
To get the 2 blade prop a different colour just paint the prop blade at the bottom left of the PSD file. It will only work with one colour so no elaborate schemes possible, but at least you can paint it the same shade of blue as the rest of the plane.

Re: Spitfire L1004 of Flt Lt 'Sandy' Johnstone, 602 Squadron
That is gorgeous!!! Quick question about the lack of roundels on the underside of the wings... was this due to the aircraft being rushed into service, was it an individual squadron thing, or was it a certain RAF mandate at a particular point in time? Or something else? Thanks yet again, Martin! Joe...
