Re: question about oil clean kit

Just for clarification, the engine on the T-6 is the R-1340, not the R-985, so a more specific discussion on the R-985 may be best handled/seen elsewhere. Both engine types have two oil drain plugs (located between cylinders 5 & 6), below the main oil sump assembly. The front drain plug on the R...

BTW, Martin, you also might like to know that the next one I'll have released is Rob Davies' G-TVIJ, which I know you had a hand in.

Re: G-CHIA

All the years it was based in the US, I never noticed it in online photos or publications, but then it shows up at Duxford in 2012/2013, and I immediately took an interest in it. ; ) I love the markings and the combination of the overall yellow with the silver canopy frames (just as they were finish...

Re: question about oil clean kit

From what I've read, by using this setup, you'll actually start collecting warm rocker oil within 10-15 minutes after engine shut-down. The oil that you collect via this system could have otherwise collected in the lower combustion chambers and be blown/burned out the exhaust at engine startup, and ...

Re: G-CHIA

Thank you guys for your replies! Here it is from Avsim: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fsxacrp&DLID=195743 (Just and FYI, I uploaded the repaint to all three sites all at the same time yesterday (by early afternoon). Avsim used to be pretty quick about having uploads made available f...

G-CHIA

This repaint has been uploaded to Sim-Outhouse, Flightsim, and Avsim, file name: jt_a2a_at6_gchia.zip This particular aircraft was initially built as an AT-6D and assigned the USAAF serial 44-85501, but was reassigned to the US Navy as SNJ-5 BuNo. 85061. The aircraft remained with the US Navy until ...

Re: question about oil clean kit

The oil clean kit is a modern setup, designed for both the R-985 Wasp Jr. and R-1340 engines. It consists of a re-designed sump plug drain valve that replaces the original P&W PN 20126 plug on those engines. On the R-1340 (T-6), it is installed on the forward drain sump. Most, if not all, T-6's ...

Re: N57418 - German WW2 scheme

It's really looking great, Ebo! Just make sure to flip the swastika on the right-side of the tail, so that it is going the right direction. http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Airframe/Ga ... 005562.jpg

Re: N57418 - German WW2 scheme

Yep, no problem Ebo, and I'm very much looking forward to the repaint!

Here are some more photos from the Condor Squadron at Van Nuys taken in 2008 (one of the last years that N57418 was painted in the German markings): http://www.vg-photo.com/airshow/081126/csvn.html

Re: N57418 - German WW2 scheme

As I mentioned in my post, the aircraft is part of the "Condor Squadron" (a flying warbird group/foundation), which operates a number of T-6's/SNJ's out of Van Nuys, California, painted in both US and German markings for their airshow acts (the Luftwaffe-painted examples acting as the aggr...

Re: "The Purple Fox"

Thank you all for the replies, I appreciate it! Having kept a close eye on all of the repaints that have been released for the T-6 so-far, I thought this one was quite "different" too from the rest/makes for a change. There are several Texans flying in the US with similar paint schemes to ...

Re: N57418 - German WW2 scheme

Looking very nice, Ebo! That is one of the several Texans that are part of the "Condor Squadron" based at Van Nuys. When you drive around the airport, there is an area on the north-side where the owners have their Texans parked in a line outside, and this has been one of them. Unfortunatel...

"The Purple Fox"

Here is a repaint I've just finished of another Texan/Harvard I grew up seeing a lot of locally. Based at the grass airfield in Spooner, Wisconsin, the owner Dave Schmitz has flown/displayed the aircraft a lot around the St. Paul/Minneapolis area over the past 22 years, including spending many hours...

For Gee Bee Z Fans

Some absolutely fantastic videos have been uploaded to Youtube over the past week, from the test flights by Delmar Benjamin of the Kevin Kimball/Jeff Eicher-built Gee Bee Z replica in the 90's. I have never seen so much video footage of the aircraft in action, and these are the most interesting/fasc...

I'm about 1/8 Dutch, but I live in Minnesota and can't speak a word of Dutch so I probably don't count. :D
