Hi all, I was experimenting with ground attacks in the instant action, and I noticed that I can change the plane type for these missions ,so I choose the Bf 110 for an anti shipping mission and to my surprise they showed up without any ordnance . I was wondering is there any way to add or change air craft bomb loads in BOB II ?
I also noticed that in BOB II Ju 87 doesn’t carry wing mounted bombs (they used to carry four 50 Kg bombs under wings as well). And finally, will version 2.10 include the Bf 109 E4b Jabo?
Thanks again
Ground attack questions
Re: Ground attack questions
Disappointingly a no to both of those. No the wing bombs aren't modelled - just the 250kg bomb on the centerline trapeze. You can't reconfig the ordnance. As one of only about three Stuka nuts around here, it hasn't had much focus!
And no, no Jabo. Again, as a bit of fan of the old hit and run tactics used by EpG 210, I'd love there to be a Jabo in the game, but again, not many LW flyers here, so little demand for the more seldom aircraft types...no Italian aircraft either!
Just thinking about the reason for you getting no ordnance in the IA shipping attack mission - were there Ju87s on that mission? If so, the 110s were probably assigned as escort, not dive bomber. Just a theory.

Re: Ground attack questions
I was surprised the Ju-87 dont have the wing bombs in this sim. I agree it isnt a sexy airplane and dive bombing takes some learning. Most just want to jump in a spit and save England
Re: Ground attack questions
Or a Hurricane, thank you.

You want s?x, cuddle up to an Emil or Zerstorer.
Spits and Hurris are the kind of girls you would take home to your mum.
Mind you, THIS would have been a babe worth partying with - the Schmittfire:
No dicky Merlin engine flooding under neg Gs - full bore DBenz grunt in ballerina shoes.

I managed to sort it out by using exact Z26/I Geschwader instead of the Ju 87s, however tonight I gave a try to every other Bf 110 Geschwaders again, and unlike my first experiment (a few nights ago) they all showed up loaded with bombs???
I also noticed after any combat, in the diary section of combat report, your task is always showing as ESCORT,even if you flew a Ju87

Re: Ground attack questions
Sometimes the bombs fail to show up under a Stuka or ME110C in Campaign. Something to do with when you Frag into the mission.
I usually Frag into these two bombers at or just before the Initial Point.
The bombs always show up then. I drop them then try to make it back to base OK.
I'm not one of the "take off - do mission - land" guys that want to fly the entire mission in real time.
This does not work well with the LW Campaign, anyway, as then no RAF will intercept your mission.
Here is a scan from a Battle of Britain book of mine. Cutaway drawing showing the bombs that the Ju87B could carry.
BoBII only allows the bombers to carry a single ordnance option. In all cases, they are HE bombs.
For the Ju87B it is a single 1102 lb. (500 kg) semi-armor piercing HE bomb. Primarily for ship targets, I assume.
The Rowan boys were Londoners, nichts Berliners. As has been mentioned, seems only "A Few" play as the evil invaders.
Please feel free to complain about LW Campaign bugs, as the squeaky wheel gets the most grease. Short on grease monkeys, tho..
Only two coders, have we. A German and a Texan. Their main interests and bug squashing focuses, have not been on fixing the LW Commander Campaign.
Yet. Hopefully they can find time to fix these Campaign bugs, or recruit some volunteers that can.

Yes. There are some Campaign menu bugs not yet been taken care of. This is one. The LW Campaign has more bugs than the RAF one.I also noticed after any combat, in the diary section of combat report, your task is always showing as ESCORT,even if you flew a Ju87

Re: Ground attack questions
Who are the coders anyway, Buddye and Heinkill?
I'd love to help, though I fear I have limited C++ experience (though lots of other languages).
That said.... what book is that from? That's a purrty picture.

Re: Ground attack questions
Main coder, and the first man that took hold of the Rowan open source code way back when, is Osram. He's a Rhinelander.
Our Secondary coder is Buddye. Joined bdg about the time of WoV development. Retired Texan.
While Osram works the new code developments to bring BoB new features,
Buddye is the AI coder, and squashes the bugs that CTD the sim.
These two men have been dedicated to BoB constantly. We've had a few other coders that did volunteer work for a short time.
Osram is the one you need to get in touch with if you wish to help with the code.
He has spent a lot of valuable time with some promising volunteer coders, getting them up to snuff with the C++ BoB code,
only to have them disappear..
I can imagine how this makes him feel when someone says he wants to volunteer.
It would be nice if a new man would volunteer to fix some of the bugs in the Campaign menus. Many of these bugs are married to the Reports code.
The Campaign Reports code is still not working right, though Buddye fixed some of it for v2.09.
Coding the Reports has been difficult. Buddye only had 1 or 2 dedicated testers helping him with Reports.
Testers for debugging Campaign Reports are in short supply, now, just as Coders are.
Anyway.. the BDG loves volunteers, and cherishes the ones that stay around for a year or two.
Published by Salamander Books Ltd. London 2000. By Richard Townshend Bickers.
If you would like the Hi Res cutaway drawings that I scanned of the Me109E, Ju87B, Ju88A, He111H, and the Defiant,
I'll e-mail them to you.
The book also has the Hurricane I and the Spitfire I, which I have not yet scanned.
Since Vista, my scanner no longer works, even though the scanner had a Vista installation disc.
Need to find the proper drivers on line one day.

Re: Ground attack questions
No coder me. I'm just one of those of those obsessives who doesn't mind installing, reinstalling, flying the same mission 20 times, with a different variable each time, in order to solve a single little issue. My favorite areas are AI development led by Buddye and campaign testing, just because I love the BoB campaign.
Others here have offered to coach me in C+++ if I had time or interest (they forgot to say 'talent') so I am sure if you want you could get some great coaching from this group if you indicate interest.

Re: Ground attack questions
I've completed training from Part I, chapters 1 to 5 few years ago That's pretty much 10% of the book. 10% of the book for dummies...
From http://www.cprogramming.com/books/davis.html
And an interesting user review

C++ for Dummies, by Stephen Randy Davis should definitely not be your first book on C++
And an interesting user review
I have purchased many books for dummies and yet I guess when it comes to this one, I need one for idiots.

Re: Ground attack questions
Well, I am a professional coder, though granted my work has been more database related than anything. Experience in Visual FoxPro, Delphi, and general DBA work.
How would I get around to help, exactly? Should I PM Osram?
I do love this sim, and I was expecting you'd have more than 2 coders for a job this big.
