heinkill wrote:Good, thx for testing mate. I will update the main post. Now, back to work on the Tiger Moth missions!
I have installed the original BOF install and then the two fixes (basic and multiskin) which worked all right.

What should I do now? Re-run the 2.11 installer and then use the new BOF installer plus the mission pack?

....what I don't understand: the old BOF installer was about 47 MB, the new one is only 1.4 MB. Is it really just the ubdated version of the same thing?

would be grateful for some advice......

Only just saw this, sorry for the delay.

Yes, just update to 2.11, multiskin, and download the new whirlybird mega pack.

In there are the various mission sets which you can switch in and out. Including BoF.

The old BoF miision set was larger because it was a defacto beta 2.11 update...the new mission set contains fewer system files because all the other junk is now in the official patch.

RESTORE BOBII.exe

Post by oki »

I have re-installed my game with the BOF patch on top of 2.11 and all seems all right, but I see two "RESTORE BOBII.exe" files: one in the main folder (ca. 6.5 MB) and one in the BOF for BOBII_Whirlybird Mega Pack folder (ca. 808 KB).

Which is the right one for restoring BOBII without BOF?

....and is it correct that the mission sets and the main BOF can only be used alternatively after running the exe files?

If you have the updated version of BoF for 2.11 (from the top of this thread) then use the one in your root folder. If it uses an old one and you have a later ATI card you'll see that the ground has poor colour resolution (a 2.10 bug with newer cards).

You are welcome. The majority of the missions were drawn from accounts in Patrick Bishop's Fighter Boys which is a great retelling of that terrible month and all that followed.

Hi and welcome to BOBII and the BOBII forum and community.

I recommend that you get the 2.11 BOBII set up and running well on your PC first. Then try BOF. I think Heinkill can get you a working link. You may need to PM him when you are ready for BOF.

BTW, I just tried the link and it works for me.

Thanks for the reply. 2.11 working well pretty much 'out of the box' :).

Hmmm.....the link still fails for me so I'll try another machine and also PM the man.

Cheers

I have been able to access the Heinkill site after I found it was being blocked by an anti-malware program on my desktop pc (but not my main AV). Doh! :)

BUT not all the download links on the Heinkill site seem to work i.e. the ones for Battle of France and Seelowe....the drop.io links e.g.

http://drop.io/BOBII_BOF

http://drop.io/seelowe

The others e.g. http://www.box.net/shared/q7x4btcff8 seem ok.

Drop.io is defunct from 15 December 2010 which is probably why :).

I am hoping the files were moved somewhere else and the links just need updating?

Thanks very much for the fine work you have done on BOB!

I will update the links on my blog, but anyone wanting these missions can get them via the first post in this thread, or just go here:

Can anyone tell me if:

- it's safe to install Battle of France on top of 2.13 (as opposed to the advertised 2.11), and if it disables cleanly if you use the bundled 'Restore' utility?

- similarly, if the Aces, Deere and Sealion mission packs can be installed into 2.13 and left there (just adding extra missions to the 'Historical set?)?

TIA!
