GNS 530W - Resizing GNS in panel - Need help

Post by Prep2021 »

I installed the GNS 530W on the Cessna 172 and am unable to resize it correctly. The screen appears cut-off and most of the information is hidden from view. Also, an image from the A2A website shows the 350W as a larger unit, taking 1 of the radio stacks (the first COM / NAV radio on top), while my install is using the same size as the native Bendix GPS and appears small. I have spent over an hour following Reality XP's instructions and can't seem to find a solution.

This is the only missing piece to a wonderful aircraft, I hope someone can help. Thank you in advance.

Hello Prep2021 and welcome to the A2A forums.

Can I just ask which host sim you're using as the installation procedure will differ slightly depending on whether it's FSX or P3Dv4/v5.

In either case you should use the "C172 Aircraft Configurator" which is available via the Windows start menu, but for FSX users, because the version of the RXP GNS supported is an older one, a couple of extra steps are needed to get the GNS 530W v2 working correctly.

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your reply. I am using P3D v5.3. I just opened the "C172 Aircraft Configurator", which I may have missed from the aircraft documentation. I am now able to see the full screen of the GNS 350W unit, WONDERFUL! Is the same unit viewable on all other A2A aircraft where the documentation states that third-party units/models are supported?

Ah, glad to hear you're sorted now with the GNS installation. Yes, a similar principal applies for each of our products for P3Dv5 which support installation of the RXP GNS 530 v2. That's all the GA aircraft, while a few of the others (i.e. the T-6, the P-51 Civilian, and the L-049) support the smaller GNS 430 v2 instead.

Cheers,

Hey Nick, can both the GNS 530W and the smaller 430 fit on the panel, or can I use only one at a time? Thanks again man!

Hello,

Yes, you can mount the the GNS 530 and the GNS 430 in the panel together, in place of both the Bendix King radios, or you can fit just a single GNS 530 or 430, keeping the default nav/comm 2 radio.

Cheers,
