Not only is the Glass "Dark", but the lights are pathetically weak at night. :(

It looks like A2A moved the Nav & Strobe lights etc, into the Model (probably so they could attache them more precisely), but it would seem that when in the model, they are a lot dimmer than when they are defined in the aircraft.cfg file ??

So, my question would be, with the Current configuration of the Nav & Strobe lights, do A2A consider that they are REALISTIC, especially at night. ?

Hello,

This can be changed to suit the users needs and the differances found on different aircraft as the black is just part of the texture Fabrice.

thanks,

Nav lights are mix of fx lights and illuminated geometry. Fx lights are are dimmer by purpose, but you can make them brighter if you wish.

These are the fx files:

fx_a2a_c172_navgre.fx
fx_a2a_c172_navred.fx
fx_a2a_c172_navwhi.fx
fx_a2a_c172_strobe.fx

They are in "Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Effects\" folder.

Lights were moved to the model, because they have to follow airframe shakes.

I tried to change them, but without much success.

I renamed the, to .orig, and copied across the nice BRIGHT one, from Shockwave Lights.
Then I renamed the copied Shockware lights to the fx_a2a_C172 name.

They did not display any brighter, but they are BRIGHT when same files are turned on in the aircraft.cfg.

So, how do I make them brighter when they are called from the Model ??

I swapped them with the default lights:

Realistic, is being able to look up into the night sky, and see the strobes and Nav lights of planes, miles away.

Realistic, is standing next to a strobe light at night, and being blinded by it's flash, if you look straight at it,

One can appear come close to this (within the limits of the Monitors brightness), with Shockwave lights, placed with the aircraft.cfg file.

So I am wondering why, when using exactly the same lights, renamed to match the ones the model is calling up, that the lights are so much dimmer.

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between C172 nav & strobe light?
NAV-Lights are the red (left), green (right) and white (rear) lights, to be used in the night or at poor visibility conditions. Strobe-Lights are flashing lights to be used between take off and landing. And there is also a rotating beacon light, to be used when the engine is running.
