Garmin GNS 400 activate leg

Post by tomersa »

I have a problem with activating leg in GNS 400. When I press activate leg in loaded flightplan, nothing happens. And I know this used to work. Any idea?

Hi tomersa,

You don't mention, but are you using the P3Dv4 version of the C172?

Thanks,

Okay, thanks. We updated the P3Dv4 version of the 172 to use the native P3Dv4 GPS based on customer requests because it supports arrival and departure procedures. However, afterwards we discovered that there are a few bugs with Lockheed Martin's implementation of the newer P3D GPS gauge.

If you wish to revert back to the legacy FS9 GPS in the C172, simply download this zip file and unzip the contents, placing the 4 *.xml files in the "Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\SimObjects\Airplanes\A2A_C172\panel\gps" folder so they overwrite the existing files of the same name.

gns_400.xml
gps_295.xml
gps_500.xml
gpsmap_295.xml

If you think you may wish to undo this change, please back up the originals first.

Best regards,

Sorry for reopening this old thread, but I had the same problem until I tried to fix it today - and I fixed it in the last hour.

Btw: just selecting fs9gps in the configuration didn't work.
Also, the C172 updater doesn't find any update, so I think I'm on the latest release.

As the download of these xml files isn't available in Dropbox anymore, I compared the mentioned panel\gps directoriy of the Cessna C172 Trainer with that of the PA28 and found exact these four xml files different:
gns_400.xml (C172: 15.2.19 63602 Bytes - PA28: 16.3.18 63652 Bytes)
gps_295.xml (C172: 15.2.19 175.224 Bytes - PA28: 16.3.18 174031 Bytes)
gps_500.xml (C172: 12.4.19 200627 Bytes - PA28: 16.3.18 174708 Bytes)
gpsmap_295.xml (C172 15.2.19 57390 Bytes - PA28 16.3.18 57443 Bytes)

So I gave it a try, backed up the C172 panel\gps directory and copied over only these four files from the PA28 panel\gps.

Now I can activate the next waypoint in the C172 but I'm not sure if this is a stable and longterm solution.
So maybe someone could answer my questions:
- Are there differences in the GPS of C172 vs. PA28 that get me in trouble in longer flights (e.g. CTD, Sim Crash) ?
- Would it be better to get the above mentioned xml files - and where do I get them ?
