Aileron deflection difference left to right

Post by kaha300d »

Hello, I have a strange aileron behaviour on the C172. Turning right is slower than turning left. This appeared to happen during a flight 2 days ago suddenly and is still present. Other aircraft behave correctly, so it is not a yoke or calibration issue. Here is a video:

Any ideas?

Thank you,
Karl

If no control issues in the sim, the rate of bank to the left should be higher than to the right due to torque.
Roll rate then can be extended into increased turn rate to the left. This is not as noticable on various aircraft due to different roll inertia.
From the film it looks about normal to me.

Hi Karl,

Did you carry out a pre-flight inspection or check the aircraft in the maintenance hangar?

Thanks,

Thank you both.

Sorry, my fault. I thought I checked but obviously I didn't. The hangar crew reports:

"Right aileron hinge is binding and needs to be repaired."

Everything ok now.

No problem Karl - at least in the sim these things are very cheap and easy to fix! :)

I had a crash but repaired the engine and the prop. I think that everything was ok then. Is it possible that the aileron went broke on a successive flight I made after the crash?
