Key sequence to mouse button?

Post by newtie »

Hi all,
I am a confirmed 172 addict and need a fix.
I have purchased a yoke, rudder pedals and throttle quadrant to support and extend my addiction. :D

That said, the space I have available at this time is very small which has forced me to have my keyboard in a very awkward position. I’d like to assign Shift+3 to a mouse button which would save me reaching over my yoke to the left where my keyboard is located to do so.

A quick search shows that FSUIPC is unable to do this. I’m thinking someone has figured this out and knows a way.

Anyone out there had success doing this?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

sorry, I've also no idea how to assign a mouse movement or button within FSUIPC.

Isn't there a button on your yoke left, you can use for it? I've just tried FSUIPC assignung a button of my Alpha flight control yoke to Shift+3, and this was working.

All buttons assigned on yoke already.

What I did was order a 60% gaming keyboard which sits perfectly on top of my yoke case and allows access to all key assignments easily.

Cheers,
Mark

Consider a gaming mouse! Logitek has some good ones. Several buttons can be reassigned to whatever you want. I have one, but don’t remember the model number (sorry).

I was looking at a Logitech G502. Apparently it has 11 programmable buttons.
I'm wondering how they accomplish this when FSUIPC can't.

I have the G602. It is accomplished by using Logitech’s software. It can be set up any way you want, (any button can be set up for any keystroke or combinations of keystrokes, or even macros!)

You can also have it set up uniquely for any individual game or program. Example, mouse button 8 can be one function on Flight sim, and something totally different on another game. When set up properly, Logitech’s software will auto recognize whatever program is running.

Combined with their gaming keyboard, (I have the G910) it really allows you to be more “efficient” with keystrokes and commands!

Just set up my 502.
Shift+3 now works perfect from a button on the mouse!
Looks like I have several more buttons available so I will check that out later.

Thanks for the help,
Mark

Excellent! Now the trick is remembering which button does what.
