P3Dv4 C182 does not rotate on the ground.

Post by F-DJEF »

hello,
My english is very rudimentary, but Google helps me.
I installed A2A_C182_P3Dv4_Academic.
By launching it on P3Dv4, I have a problem. On the ground it hardly turns. Impossible to follow the running lines, I leave the taxiway.
I'm on WIN10. I configured right brake, left brake on the keyboard. Differential brake appears in red at the bottom left of the screen, but the plane does not turn.
Can you help me. Thank you. :p3d:

Hello F-DJEF and welcome.

Please can you let us know which sub-version of P3Dv4 you're using? The latest version is 4.5.14.34698.

Also, can you tell us if you're using rudder input as well as differential braking to turn on the ground? If you are, what sort of hardware device are you using to control the rudder?

Thanks,
Nick

hello Nick
I'm on P3Dv4 4.5.13.32097. I use the keyboard for the differential brake (right and left arrow) and the rudder is on the joystick. Thanks for your help.

Okay, thanks for the info.

Are you sure not just taxiing too fast for the turns you're trying to make? The 182 doesn't have a mechanical linkage between the rudder assembly and the nosewheel and a bungee cord is used instead. This means the steering is less direct than in other planes you may be used to.

If you're using a twist-grip stick for rudder inputs, twisting this and pressing your normal brake button at the same time should give you the best steering response. However, if using a rudder axis, please make sure that "auto-rudder" isn't set in the P3D settings.

Thanks,

A little video to see how it turns out.
https://youtu.be/cM2-1f2o2Fs
My "auto-rudder" is on off.
I have a twist-grip stick for rudder inputs and i twist and press my normal brake button at the same time.
If I go very slowly, it doesn't spin at all.

Thanks for the info and for posting the video.

It looks like there's no differential braking, or the direction of braking is opposite to rudder input.

Please can you let us know exactly how your hardware is configured? For example which functions have you assigned to your rudder axis and brake inputs, and do you use any third-party software to make control inputs such as FSUIPC?

Thanks,
Nick

Hello,
The rudder axi is on the joystick.
Left brake: left arrow
Right brake: Right arrow.
Flaps down & up, Landing gear on FSUIPC

If you have FSUIPC installed, please can you try disabling it and then retest the braking and steering on the ground. The easiest way to do this is just to temporarily move the FSUIPC4.dll into a different folder.
