Wrong trim position in the model

Post by Fly182 »

Hi, I realized that the C182 model displays an inverted trim position as you can see in the pic. I have the FSX-Sp2 version, C182 updated to the last update. However, is just a cosmetic stuf, because the trim wheel is correct about up/down.

Hello,

The trim tab animation as pictured is correct: the trim tab actually moves in the opposite direction to the elevator itself.

This article may be worth a read as it provides a brief summary of the most common types of pitch trim arrangements found in light aircraft. The Cessna 182 and 172 were designed with basic trim tabs, the first system shown; whereas the Cherokee and Comanche use antiservo tabs.

For what it's worth, another plane in the Accu-SIm range, the Piper J-3, is fitted with a different system again which isn't included in the article. A conventional elevator is used for pitch control and an all-moving horizontal stabiliser is used for pitch trim.

Thanks,
Nick
