v5 Installer CTD

Post by Getselim »

Hi,

I have installed the Comanche on P3dv5 using the new installer and every time I start a flight after selecting any of the Comanche variants from the scenario screen P3D CTDs. It loaded once after I deleted the shaders but that has not worked again. It is only happening with the Comanche and I have not yet installed any other A2A aircraft.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Thanks,
Stuart

Hello Stuart,

are you all updated with both your P3Dv5 with the latest hotfix + the Comanche itself (updater under your start menu > A2A Simulations).

Can you let us know what you are using for your default flight and if you are using any other beta software such as the active sky which is known to have a crashing issue with the rain effect in its current state.

thanks,

Hi Lewis,

Yes Prepar3d and Comanche up to date. Since posting I have installed my remaining A2A aircraft and it is happening on all of them (182, Cherokee, T-6 and P-40).

I have the Active Sky Beta but it still CTDs if I don't have that running. My default flight is the JF C152 at Orbx Edinburgh airport. Both that and other default aircraft load ok. I also tried starting the default flight then changing the aircraft after it loads and it's the same.

Let me know what I should try next.

Thanks,
Stuart

Hello Stuart,

I'd recommend changing your default flight to a default aircraft at as much a default location as possible first as that can cause flight load corruption in itself.

However since this is an issue seemingly unique to you for the moment, can you please cause the crash and then go to your event viewer as that will hopefully hold a clue as to what is actually crashing for you.

Windows 10 event viewer in case you are not familar this will help you get to it;
https://www.dummies.com/computers/opera ... indows-10/

Don't be scared if the log is filled with stuff, that's normal, its just the most recent one you'll be looking for the one that hopefully will say P3D had an error and xyz was the crashing file. Its that xyz we are interested in as that can help pin point the issue.

thanks,

Doesn't seem to hold any clues but you may know better.

However, as you suspected, it was related to the default flight as it CTDd every time I tried to change it through the UI so I removed all of the saved scenarios to force it to create new default flight files and it is working! Checking the old Prepar3D_Default.fxml file I can see a reference to the Comanche so I must have set that as the aircraft for a default flight at some point.

I appreciate the quick response and resolution even though it was a Prepar3D bug rather than A2A - now that I think about it I have read about this issue in the past so from now on I won't mess with the default flight and just save new scenarios.

Cheers,
Stuart

Aye no clue in that log but thanks for looking and glad the default flight thing worked for you. I wasn't sure that would be the case as that tends to be more flight load corruption over out right crashes, so v strange indeed. But since v5 is evolving maybe not so strange hehe. Anyway, happy flying and have fun in the virtual skies.
