Where did my Comanche go?

Post by eker »

Downloaded and installed free P 40.
Now my Piper has vanished... (P3DV4.5)

It is not in vehicle menu. Trying to load scenario, the sim cannot find the aircraft.
Downloaded Comanche again.. Message from installer: "Do you want to uninstall?"

I got following -5- A2A folders in documents:

Prepar V5 add ons - This is a new one. Containing a couple of A2A subfolder with the P40.

A2A - with a mix of subfolders - the FXS /never owned ) contains all my A2A aircraft , FROM old Cherokee from P3DV2 (not reinstalled in V4), and up to brand new P40. Subfolder P3D contains L049 and T6.

PreparV4 files -- looks like my saved scenarios are placed here.

PreparV4 addons - Several subfolders with ORBX - Traffic . .... and A2A subfolder with more A2A stuff like Gauges and Simobjects, and anothe A2A subfolder with Comanche 250 - L049 - T6

PreparV2 - (should be deleted).

Suggestions on cleanup?

Hello eker,

Please can you just confirm which simulator(s) you're trying to install to P3Dv4, P3Dv5, or both?

Thanks,

Thanks for the info eker. I don't really understand the issue you describe though as you mention a "Prepar V5 add ons" folder too. Are you sure you didn't install the P3Dv5 version of the P-40? Even if you did, it certainly shouldn't prevent the Comanche from showing.

By default, the P3Dv4 version of the P-40 will be installed in the "Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A" folder.

Cheers,

Thanks.
Guess the culprit was the V5 folder.

The P40 download is common for both 4 and 5. Guess I hit a wrong button after download.

Thank you again for extremely quick response. No doubt you are the fastest in flight sim universe.

Hello Eker,

still not sure I follow. the Accu-sim P-40 is not common for v4 or v5 there are entirely different software installers for those two.

thanks,

Hi Lewis.

Store:
Ordering (Add to chart) - P3Dv4-5 , I assumed this is common order for both v4 and v5.

As I interpret the P3D store, there is one purchase option for Academic v4 - v5 . And one purchase for Professional v4 -v5.

Thanks

Hello Eker,

sorry I think you mis-understand. It is one purchase but the products are separate for the versions. If you check under your downloads you'll notice multiple downloads for the different versions of any of your P3D products from us.

It is starting to sound like you may have been trying to install the v4 software into v5, but as Nick says that shouldn't really have caused the issue you mention about something disappearing. In all the years of doing support I cannot recall coming across that sort of thing before. I would be guessing though it could be possible something got all confused if you had managed to install the older software onto the new platform.

No doubt I hit a wrong button after download.
And my documents need a major cleanup.

:D

Great plane. I am planning a 525 nm non stop flight in Norway. - - but it is too windy today. A challenge without GPS.

Thanks for the aircraft A2A!!!!

Thanks for the kind words eker and hope the weather settles down for your virtual flight soon. Looks like summery weather is due to return to the UK this weekend at any rate.

And yeah, when it comes to the folders in "Documents" you can probably safely remove any for P3Dv2 now! :)

Thanks,
Nick
