Controlling Landing Gear with Honeycomb Bravo

Post by David_MC »

I am trying to get the landing gear to work using the landing gear lever on the Honeycomb Bravo but I have run into a few issues. Since the landing gear switch in the Comanche has down/off/up and the Bravo only has down/up the Prepar3D V4.5 landing gear command doesn't work right. I have tried using the Comanche input configurator, however the configurator only records a single input (button 31) for both up and down instead of two separate inputs (button 31 and 32). Is there a workaround that can make this work?

Hello David,

No first hand experience with the Honeycomb hardware here I'm afraid, but do you happen to have a registered copy of FSUIPC?

Thanks,

Hey David,

I'm not current on the Comanche (not even sure if it's installed, I kinda fell in love with the Bonanza).
But the Honeycomb Configurator quite heavily depends on local panel variables (LVARs) for setting complex stuff in 3rd party aircraft.

It should be possible to set the gear handle in the configurator to just up and down on the Comanche, so it at least works. It'll probably still need manual input to reset it to neutral.

I'm currently not at home where my gaming PC is. But if nobody beats me to it, I'll take a look at it tomorrow or Monday.

Best regards,
Lars

Thanks for chiming in on this one Lars. So does the Honeycomb configurator allow L:Vars to be set without depending on any other apps such as FSUIPC? If so, I can hopefully point David in the right direction with having access to the hardware myself.

Cheers,

Yes, the Honeycomb configurator allows setting L:Vars without FSUIPC.

Instead of selecting a predefined function, in the configurator you have to select
Function: CUSTOM
Key: L
Name: <The name of the L:Var to be set>
Value: <The value to be set>

Note I'm typing this from memory, so I might not be 100% correct, but gist should be there.

Unfortunately, the Configurator does not allow for timing or macro's (as far as I've found)
So you can't say: up for 10 seconds, then neutral. Or up until the light turns green, then neutral.

But you can bind multiple functions or even conditions to an input, but they are only sent all at once/evaluated when you trigger that input.

Ah, great stuff - thanks.

So, the L:Var for the gear selector switch in the Comanche is "L:LandingGearLeverPos" David and this should be SET to 0 to place the lever in the "up" position and SET to 2 to place it in the "down" position.
