Trim Wheel Backwards?

Post by lowew79 »

First the assumptions that make me think this may be an issue. NH means "nose high" and TH "tail high". Well, when I move the trim wheel towards NH, the nose goes DOWN not up. Similarly when I move the wheel towards TH the tail goes DOWN not up.

I thought that maybe my joystick controls were set strangely, but i watch the actual trim wheel movement and it seems backwards.

Or (maybe this is what I am missing... NH stands for Nose HEAVY, so when I move the wheel that way, the nose gets "heavier"?

Yes, that's indeed the case, the "H" in this case is for "heavy". Also, bear in mind that rolling a trim wheel forward for nose down and backward for nose up is standard across types and if the T-6 was set-up the opposite way in this respect, it'd probably make it rather unpopular as a trainer. :)
