Add-ons folder ("must be installed in the same location")

Post by tbaac »

Hi

I'm just trying a fresh install of P3Dv4.

I've had P3Dv4 previously installed on the PC and am using a different Add-ons folder now.

When I try to install the T-6 Texan (just downloaded the latest installer from the A2A site) it gives a message that "you already have at least one A2A Simulations add-on installed in the folder below."

I went into all the accounts on the PC that may have accessed P3D (all used by me, just my account and an admin account), looked at the contents of add-ons.cfg and then renamed it.
I started P3Dv4 and it asked about a couple of non-A2A addons and rebuilt the add-ons.cfg file with references to those.

I just tried emptying the file but it still wants to use the old add-ons folder.

What can I do please?

Thanks.

I'm not sure where the path was coming from but I found I could override it if I added the path that I wanted at the top of the add-ons.cfg file, e.g.:

[Package.0]
PATH=N:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A
ACTIVE=true
REQUIRED=false

But I've now got folders in the A2A folder on the path above with these names:
A2A\
Effects\
Fonts\
Gauges\
Scripts\
SimObjects\
add-on.xml

Am I missing a level in the path or is that okay?

Thanks again.

Hello,

When you say a "fresh install" of P3Dv4, did you delete the various config files the program leaves behind? There are actually two copies of the add-ons,cfg which the software may use depending on the installation directory. These are located in these two folders and the installer will check both copies of the file.

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5
C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin

Anyway, the folder names in your "A2A" directory that you've listed are correct.

Thanks,
Nick

Thanks for that Nick, you're right. It looks like it was using the one in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin

Thanks for your help.
