Hey guys,
If you're seeing freezes/CTDs in only the L-049, please can you try systematically disabling a couple of the dlls to see if this eliminates the CTDs. If it does, at least it gives us a better idea of where to look for any potential conflicts with the new version of P3D.
Specifically, please can you go to the "Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons\A2A\SimObjects\Airplanes\WoS_L049\panel" folder where you'll find three files with a ".dll" extension. To disable these, you can simply rename the files slightly, or alternatively move them to a different folder.
I'd recommend renaming just "L049sv2.dll" initially (Accu-Sim sounds will be disabled) to see if this prevents the freeze/CTD.
Thanks,
Nick

I renamed this file, the Connie loads and P3D lives.
I renamed it back to L049sv2.dll and P3D is hanging again.
If there's anything else I can test, just let me know.

Re: Connie freezes p3dv5
Thanks for confirming that aurel. I wonder if there's some quite specific audio configuration which is behind these CTDs?
Following our DM conversation, I've just tested with a spare monitor I have which has built in speakers plugged into the HDMI port on my RTX 2070S, so playback driven by the NVIDA HD audio drivers rather than the Realtek drivers for the onboard audio chip on my motherboard as is my usual setup. However, I've still been unable to reproduce any CTDs/freezes.
David - following aurel42's reply above, I'd definitely recommend you try renaming the "L049sv2.dll" as described above, to verify if it's also audio playback which is linked to the CTD you're experiencing. If so, could you also let us know if your speakers are plugged in via an audio port on your motherboard, or elsewhere such as via an HDMI or DisplayPort on your graphics card?
Cheers,
Nick

Re: Connie freezes p3dv5
Stuff I tried to find the peculiar audio setup that might trigger the problem:
I also tried disabling both the Realtek and Nvidia devices in Device Manager. This resulted in P3d exiting shortly after opening the main window, before loading the Connie.
Running out of ideas what else to try…
- upgraded BIOS for MSI MEG X570 ACE, Chipset drivers for X570
- disabled Realtek onboard audio device in Device Manager
- uninstalled Realtek onboard audio device in Device Manager
- disabled Realtek onboard audio device in BIOS
- disabled Nvidia audio device in Device Manager
- physically disconnected the HDMI monitor and used a different monitor without speakers using a DVI cable (P3D did not show the Nvidia audio device in the menus in Sound options)
- launched SteamVR and set the default audio devices in Windows and P3D to the headset speakers
I also tried disabling both the Realtek and Nvidia devices in Device Manager. This resulted in P3d exiting shortly after opening the main window, before loading the Connie.

Re: Connie freezes p3dv5
Putting a 1 at the end of those .dll files made the connie openable. However the sounds are on kind of a loop. And the sim stutters.

Using headphones plugged into the front of my pc which I assume is the audio device.

David - thanks for trying that, but please can you test with just the "L049sv2.dll" file renamed and the others as they originally were.David Reines wrote: ↑26 Sep 2020, 10:14 Putting a 1 at the end of those .dll files made the connie openable. Re: Connie freezes p3dv5
Ahh the aerostar will come out months later because we are tying up Nick with connie problems! Hehe, just kidding. I'll try to keep experimenting on my end. Ill report back with any news. Very happy and proud to be a tiny part of this community as things evolve.
Re: Connie freezes p3dv5
I loaded the C172 and used the Accusim sound menu to manually select the Nvidia/HDMI audio device, I changed the vehicle to the Connie -> P3D hang.
Just to make sure: file size of the file of L0249sv2.dll on my system is 564,736 bytes, MD5 checksum: A6598CEB519B9AD2767D74A15EB1AB74

While this is a significant risk, we would get to fly the Connie while we're waiting the extra months for the Aerostar!David Reines wrote: ↑26 Sep 2020, 10:30 Ahh the aerostar will come out months later because we are tying up Nick with connie problems! That's indeed the correct file aurel. By the way, the Accu-Sim sound menu isn't valid for the Connie which uses an earlier generation of Accu-Sim.aurel42 wrote: ↑26 Sep 2020, 10:48 I loaded the C172 and used the Accusim sound menu to manually select the Nvidia/HDMI audio device, I changed the vehicle to the Connie -> P3D hang.

Anyway, thanks again for the testing guys - we'll continue to investigate this issue from our end.

Re: Connie freezes p3dv5
same issue as reported but in P3D 4.5.14.34698. bought B-17 yesterday. works flawlessly. both this and the comanche crash at various times. connie crashes instantly after clicking "ok" to fly. changing the v2 .dll allowed me to load in, this is the closest i've been to it working. comanche will load, i will hear battery whirr for about 3 seconds, then it crashes. renaming .dlls did nothing.
i've tried reinstalling planes, deleting the log files (all of them, even for FSX), and doing a fresh install of P3D. nothing has worked.
i think this is an error report for the connie:

can you please start a new thread so we can get you squared away. The fact its happening with the Comanche points to a system issue so we will need to troubleshoot how you are loading in, that you have the correct versions, not using complex default flights, running as Admin, Anti-Malware not interferring etc etc that might cause a crash at load.
thanks,
