Switching tanks
At which point in the flight do I need to switch tanks do I base it on time or when the tank gets down to 50%?

I’m not sure how it’s supposed to be done, but I always switch when I have a 1/4 difference. During cruise I guess it’s ok to switch after a certain time, but during takeoff and climb, you’ll burn a lot more fuel on the first 15 minutes.

I’ve set a custom timer on my GTN 750 to remind me every 30 minutes.

You can set these on the Utilities page. Refer to page 15-10 of the manual for further information:
