1 flap stuck on approach

Post by Tex99999 »

Good Afternoon,

My last 2 approaches have sent me into a death spiral when going full flaps. 1 flap comes out - the other stays in .

Any ideas why this is happening?

Hi Jon

Welcome to the world of Accu-Sim :D
Did you find anything during your walk around before the first time?
Did you go to the hangar to repair it after the first time?
Kind Regards
Tomas

Hi Jon.
Further to what tomas has stated , on the V35 hangar , you have to hit the inspect button to show any faults , before you can fix them , and the questions you need to ask are .
1/ did the flaps pass a preflight check
2/ was there any extra flap play on one of the flaps , indicating ware
3/ did the flaps get lowered at to higher speed , causing a linkage to break

I have had a flap failure one one side , and survived , due to a quick response to bring flap back up so both wings had same degree of flap , but i have track IR so can do a quick glance left and right on flap deployment , to check if i have a flap issue , and get the flaps at same level.

Nothing on the walk and after the first issue (prop was destroyed) rebuilt everything but the engine.

Hi Alan,
1) yes
2) Not that I noticed - freshly rebuilt
3) Quite possibly, I do know that I was doing 170 on my way down, ended the flight before I hit lol.

Inspection also told me I had oil pressure issues and main bearing wear so also rebuilt the engine with less than 10 hours. I spent about $50K in repairs since purchase a week or 2 ago.
I have to say that I am not normally a GA guy but Stevie motivated me and I'm really enjoying this plane.

I've had four occurrences of the V35 asymmetrical flap extension, resulting in three recoveries and one catastrophe on short final.
As soon as possible, I go to flaps up or min flaps so roll can be managed; hopefully. As previously stated, walk-around and hangar maintenance check is a must.

There seems to be some other underlying issues:
1) the Bonanza input configurator breaks the flaps completely - no input from Bravo or plane
2) P3D flaps increm allows full up or full down - on the Bravo and on the plane.

I believe it was pilot error not understanding that the flaps switch has no middle detent and you have to manually stop the flaps in flight. I am going to assume that I used full flaps over max allowed speed.
