Window misting refuses to clear

Post by Ron Attwood »

Can't say a lot more than that really. Opened window. opened door, opened footwell vent, turned on cabin heat, turned on de-icer. Oh, changed aircraft, restarted P3Dv5, flew for an hour with my head out the window and finally swore mightily. Then another thought occurred to me, Did someone sneak in and paint the inside of the windows pale grey? Mmm, possible. The windows look clear from the outside.

Had a search, couldn't find anyone else with the same problem. I'm beginning to think it's personal.

EDIT: Turns out I had a LOT more to say. :D

EDIT 2: I forgot to say, the plane loads ready misted (For your convenience)

Hello Ron,

I was tempted to ask "what the hell are you doing in there?" But on second thoughts, perhaps I won't.

Are you seeing this issue with a default, unmodified paint scheme? If so, what happens if you reload the aircraft?

Thanks,
Nick

Morning Nick. With one of my own paints. (What else) Reloading does nothing to help. What I was doing in there is of no concern to you or this forum. 8)
For the sake of science I'll try it with a, a, default paint.

I'm back. :) I'm relieved to say that a default paint TG-something, was as steamed up as any others. I did try a few other paints of mine plus one by 8055 (Don't know how that got in there!)

Hmm - interesting. Can you recall any recent changes you've made to your P3Dv5 setup Ron that may coincide with this issue first presenting itself?

Thanks,

You're 'avin' a larf ain't cha? P3Dv5 has been beset with little hiccups and irritations since day two. Day one was OK. :D

Seriously, nothing I can recall. Certainly nothing Earth shattering.

Oddly enough it's only the V35. It was lovely to look out of the windows of the Comanche last night.

I'll re-install the Bonanza and see what happens.

Okay, thanks Ron.

The only thing I can think of is that the "A2AMat_Bonanza_Glass.lua" file in "Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons\A2A\Scripts" has been removed or altered in your installation. If so, a reinstall should fix it.

Cheers,

Bit of an anticlimax but a re-install did it. If the A2AMat_blah_blah was missing there was no way I removed it. Add that to one of the mysteries of life.

Hi Bob,

Have you checked to see if the file mentioned above is missing?

Hello,

before trying a tech support fix, please do try and clear it manually first, if its just your first time experiencing some misting it can easily be mistaken for an issue if you are unsure of whats happening and how to de-mist your aircraft. the tl:dr is similar to the car, get some airflow going and a little heat helps too.

thanks,

Hi
@Lewis
I tried all I knew to try and clear the misting, opened the vents. opened the side window, opened the door etc. All to no effect.

I fixed the issue by reinstalling as described above. However I have no clue as to what has caused the issue.
Best wishes
Bob

Thanks for the update Bob.

So did you check that directory and find that file mentioned was actually missing?

Hi Nick
Sorry I did not.
I did not fully understand the location on the file.
When I read the other member fixed the issue by reinstalling, I followed this, reinstalled., which resolved the issue.
I do apologies, as this may not be helpful for you to identify what caused the problem.

I can report:
The bonanza worked fine in the past (up to a few weeks ago before I installed the spitfire and L49 for p3d v5
I did not use the bonanza until yesterday. (after installing Spitfire and L49)
Yesterday the windows in the Bonanza would not de mist,
I tried opening windows, doors, vents etc.
The only way to de mist was the reinstall.
All other A2A products worked fine (I own then all)

Best wishes
Bob
